Hey Ram! I'm glad you made it safely to Toronto. In terms of meeting up with you, things have gotten a little complicated on my end too. I'll e-mail you when I get a chance a little later. Riverdale is a cool area of town. Enjoy!

Hey, Ram! Sorry that I still haven't contacted you. My e-mail is screwed up right now. Basically, everything is pretty messed with me at the moment and there's no way on this end that I can meet you today before the big show. Sorry about that! Have a great show! Good luck with the demo. I hope it reaches its intended target.
Are you flying out first thing tomorrow or will you be in town for a while? If you're sticking around a day or two, I may be able to meet you in your end of the woods. In the meantime, I'll try to tame my e-mail demon.

Have a blast tonight!

I just got back!!!!!!! Here's how it went down.

So me and my friend Phil get there and see the Canadian Tenors, which was pretty cool and then Sheryl Crow goes on (meh) so I walk with a confident stride all over the place telling any security person who will listen "I'm friends with Jeff Lattimer, manager of the Canadian Tenors and he's expecting me to come find him backstage etc." and finally end up downstairs where all the multi-thousand dollar box seats are and doors to backstage are all over the place. I just walk down a big long hallway, take a right and walk through a door and a man quickly grabs me and kindly takes me back through the door and says "I've got Sting right here, you can't come in here". So I try every other door and just end up hanging out beside this curtain beside backstage where this VERY haughty security woman is giving me the evil eye (for about 20 minutes straight). I sit there for a while and end up talking to the head of security, who takes my demo and gives it to Jeff Latimer. Finally, after calling Mr.Lattimer's phone a few times and asking anyone and everyone if they know if they can put me in contact with him, Sting is about to go on, so I wait till everyone's in their seats and run out and grab a FANTASTIC very close-up seat, not on the floor, but right on the side, maybe 40 feet from the stage. Now my original ticket was for the higher balcony way up there, so this is no small feat.

As I'm sitting there going nuts while Stingo and the boys are running through MIAB and then Fields of Gold, my phone rings and sure enough it's Jeff Lattimer, I can barely make out what he's saying over the sound, but I think he says "meet me at the curtain", so I sprint over to the curtain and sure enough there he is. We shake hands and talk for a little while and he makes sure I've got his contact info and to "keep in touch", assures me he'll listen to the demo, and that's that, he goes and joins the tenors in the very front row. Nice dude, I googled him, who knows? It could be a (small) break.

So after that I go and join two very fine girls who are dancing and I sing along with everything and am making such a fuss in some of the songs that I swear Stingo looked right at me (I had my hands in the air and was screaming "tell 'em Sting"). It was basically a religious experience, and I had prime seats. What a night.

At the very end of the second encore (EBYT, obviously) I ran back and tried every single door to backstage that I could but security was there every time :(

All in all, a fantastic night. Sting put on an INCREDIBLE show, Vinnie played the hell out of his drums, and Dom and Mr.Piano (name has escaped me at the moment) were great too.

LL, don't worry about it I had a guitar lesson with my dad's friend all afternoon anyway. I head back to Victoria tomorrow morning, so I'll catch you next time I'm in Toronto!

Thanks for the report. It sounds that your night was off the hook! Good goin' on grabbing the excellent seats. I'm so pleased that your demo got into some influential hands. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Have a safe trip home, and as you said, we'll try to connect next time.

Hi all,
Just thought some of you may want to read about the night. Coby and I went to the meet and greet-saw Sting, he remembered us and we chatted at bit. He was in a great mood and looking forward to the show. We went down to our front row center seats, which were white leather couches. I was a little bummed because the entire arena was sitting during Sheryl Crow's first few songs. Luckily a crazy drunk guy near us got the place standing on their feet.

Sting's set was really great-he opened with Message and played alot of Police songs. There were no barricades and the stage was sort of high. During Desert Rose, a few of us ladies up front were asked by Sting to come on stage and dance with him. That was a blast and Coby got it on video too! I was able to dance beside him in front of god knows how many people. At the end of the gig we got Sting's set list. Also, went to an after party for free booze. We later wandered around backstage collecting memorabilia.

They did a sound check for Fragile to be played as the last song acoustic, but no Fragile.

Here is the true set list as it was played:
Message
Faith
Englishman
Synch 2
Magic
Fields
Seven Days
Moon-Tea
Fortress
Shape of my Heart
Wrapped
Bring on Night-World
Roxanne

Desert Rose
Every Breath

xoxo

and lots of p'leeece tunes in the set.... were they the tourzilla versions? was gordo 'rockier' than he was pre-zilla?

bit bummed that he played bring on the night: assume it was the 'old' version? (by which i mean gordo's new/old version)....

Hey Smax,
I would say Message, Synch2, Roxanne, Magic and EBYT were played "Policey"-(like a year ago). I believe for Bring on the Night (Police tour version) he included an extra verse-but is still cutting it off going into World. Yes, Wrapped wasn't as vibrant as Stewart makes it. I had a hard time hearing Vinnie on the drums all night-they just didn't get my attention. It was amazing to hear Tea!!
