Pictures &stories from Rumblefish soundtrack creation

I came across a page about the Tres Virgos Studio where Stewart recorded the Rumblefush Soundtrack. There are both stories and pictures from the recording there. I haven't seen this posted here before. Has some treasures about Stewart.

The main page is http://tresvirgosstudio.com/home

On the History page, http://tresvirgosstudio.com/history, there is a long and interesting discussion of Stewart's work on Rumblefish starting about 1/3 down the page.

The highlight for me was on the Pictures page, http://tresvirgosstudio.com/pictures, which includes several shots of Stewart from the making of RUmblefish with a few of Jeff Seitz.

Further down on the page after the other Stewart shots is a picture Stewart's letter to the studio owner annoucing the birth of Stewart's son Jordan. "Fingers and toes evenly distributed, male apparatus in the right place!" the new father proudly proclaims. The letter is the 3rd from the bottom.

nice find... interesting.....

"Stewart started with regular drumsticks, but found that brushes worked well as a sound match to the film. He burned up the old fashioned metal brushes with ruberrized handle in about 10 minutes. Jeff Seitz went out and brought back some new heavier plastic brushes that really made the Toms snap and give great tonality. The plastic handles kept breaking, but we invested in a couple doze sets and made it thru the rest of the soundtrack that way. "

I should note that the letter annoucing Jordan's birth to the studio owner claims that Jordan's full name will be "Jordan Daniel Robin Yeager Copeland." Robin Yeager is the stuido owner to whom the letter was sent.

Thanks for the link, niperry. I haven’t seen any of those pictures before. The History section is fascinating.
I haven’t been in a recording studio for about twenty years so it’s interesting to read about their multi track recording experiences with two inch wide tape, “punching in” to fix or replace tracks. Two inch tape was insanely expensive back in the day and took our crappy little band months to raise the funds needed for just enough tape to record a couple of songs. Probably sounds archaic compared to how a modern recording studio functions these days.

I asked Robin Yeager and was allowed to use his story of making Rumble Fish plus the photos for the Police wiki pages.

So now the photos show what the text is writing about.

http://www.policefans.org/Police_wiki/i ... %28song%29

the pages are ovbiously not finished, but I like the combination of text and photos.

Check the links - you have a comma at the end of the links, causing the error. Cut and paste the links - remove the comma - and away you go! :)
