The Cover of Stewart's book revealed?

Postby Maud138 on 07 May 2009 16:29
Can we please move on.

This is an ugly disagreement between people who like each other over really nothing. Stewart said it was okay but we didn't know that.

I hate to see this fine community fight over something so small and start using words that are not.
What he ^^^says.

And now, for something completely different................

So it goes, I guess no one 'got' your humor...I had a hard time determining if your reply to me was indeed in jest, it really was so over the top /Swiftian as to suggest so...<grin>

I'd intervene if someone told you to shut the fuck up, too Pluto...

As a matter of fact, I am quite certain I have <grin>

You know, I said to myself I was really gonna stay out of this one, but I've just got a couple cents.

It's not like this ain't happened before. For whatever reason some folks who post here have more intimate/personal access to Stewart and it's just always gonna be a judgment call as to what things are revealed or no.

On the one hand, folks are always eager to let others here know when they've seen or spoken to him, which is perfectly understandable. On the other, discretion can be the better part of valor when it comes to this stuff - for some of the reasons Dirty mentioned and also on the part of simple manners. Is it really polite to let others know you've been able to do something they'd really like to have, or is it going to look like bragging?

I AM NOT SUGGESTING THIS LINE HAS BEEN CROSSED. Just to be sure that part sticks, I'm repeating it: I AM NOT SUGGESTING THIS LINE HAS BEEN CROSSED. On the part of anyone here.

I'm simply reiterating some things that have gone through my own head after having received some treat that due to simple logistics isn't going to be available to everyone, including fans who are more passionate than I.

Ppl. are always going to want to defend Stewart, especially after that mess with the cretin from Reuters; they're also always going to want to share photos featuring him, information he revealed to them personally, transmitted to them in a dream, sent to them by carrier pigeon, whatever.

Since I know we're all basically friends here and that sometimes things are said in the heat of the moment that are regretted later (who, me?) I'm not gonna repeat Nick's entreaty, but I do think folks oughta step away from the keyboard and count to 10 before they hit Submit for a little while.

I love you all, I mean it, Dive

I would, but it would suck by the time it got to you. lol

To those arguing: sometimes it's just best to let stuff go.

So Dietmar/Gio who's mental image of the cover is closer?

We have 84 replies, six pages on what may be/may not be/quite possibly isn’t/or is/could end up being/or not being the cover of a book not quite finished yet.

I don’t know which I am more excited about, reading the actual book or all the posts that are going to hit the board and quite possibly all the different opinions(I have a sneaky feeling people here will have various opinions of the book.  )

We are all nutters, can’t we all get along?

Well, I guess my earlier post regarding a divisive debate ended up being a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The reason I began to doubt that Stewart gave the okay to all this is due to the vagueness of Dietmar's post that had appeared before Dan's. It was good information that put our minds to rest without really telling us anything. Not really knowing Dietmar very well, I couldn't tell if this was just coyness for coyness' sake or if he was being extra cautious with what appeared to be privleged information.
Dan, if anything I said in my prior post in this thread led you to think I was "lambasting" you, it certainly wasn't my intention.
Thanks for the info and especially thanks to Stewart for indulging our curiosity.

And Gio thanks for putting the fun back into this dysfunctional little family you created. Now would somebody pass Papa Gio his piece of cake?

Wow.

It's not all I got, but it is the most important thing. I'm disaapointed by a lot of this.

I haven't posted about "the day." partly due to thought that discretion is important, partly because well, I know I am blessed. By friends, by location, by circumstance, and by the man himself.
<thank you Stewart>

Don't think I don't know it, nor that I take it for granted.

I'd rather share stories like this in person- I KNOW Stewart wouldn't mind any of us knowing, but details about his home etc. just seem best left off a publicly searchable site.

In regards to the book, Stewart brought it up. I commented on the placeholder cover. He pointed across the room and said "wanna see my cover? wanna see the whole thing?" and led us to it, and showed us the proposed cover as well as the book.

*THUNK*

I mentioned that everyone would be relieved. He asked why, and I said he should check the threads- there had been quite a bit of disappointment that the placeholder didn't have the *ahem* personality he did. *is a diplomat*

He said"let everyone know.they don't have to worry." and there was some "sheesh" ing or something

Ok, so. That's all I got to share on this topic. I am pretty disappointed in all of this.

It reminds me a little of personal flame wars on TPT. THERE people were told to take it to personal messages. So, I know we don't have that option. I think it is ok to call things out on here. BUT if you are going to call someone out on their behavior? Better to do that personally.
