WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I about died seeing Stew with the banjo. Is he using it to compose parts of Ben Hur? I agree with Dive about Cherry Vanilla.

Second-hand joy is the bestest. Very nice.
You know what STEWART's problem is, tho? Cherry Vanilla stole the show!
Honestly. Love the hair.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

Thanks Dietmar for the goodies! You are so conscientious, respectful, and super-sweet! I bet STEWART was as delighted to see you as much as all the rest of us nutters who were luck enough to meet with you on both coasts! And Cherry still has it, and HOW!!!

the banjo is just there (as are more old instruments), certainly not used for the Ben Hur music :)

I've been in contact with Cherry Vanilla for a few years now. So seeing her in LA was a must.
She's busy writing a book of her own, but she had some time on Sunday.
So we went to her apartment in Hollywood around 6pm. The house didn't look spectacular from the outside, but from inside it was.
The huge living room had lots of tasteful paintings, among them the Tim Burton one.
She's a very kind person who has met EVERYBODY. Lots of photos in her office. I guess that book will be an interesting read, although the times with The Police won't be the most important part...
As it turned out she and Meg had a common friend. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon...
As we had tickets for a concert the same night we left after about 35 minutes. Would have loved to stay a bit, but that's just another reason to come back to LA sometime.

That's awesome!
All I can say is a HUGE WOOOOOOOOOOO!

You know that is my avatar because it's my favorite picture of Stewart
because (a)I love the banjo and I have never seen another picture of him with it and (b) he's got the XTC shirt on.

Too bad he couldn't have pulled on on old T Shirt for the shot

You MUST come back to LA soon! We must return to the other Backstage(before karaoke of course)

Now I must try and get some work done!
Although seeing SC with the banjo, well...we've heard rumors to this effect before (his affection for bluegrass)...I'm just waiting for him to show up at the Ryman w/Del McCoury.

(Not seriously, but can you imagine the mindblow?)
After actually having heard the strange noises SC plunked out of the banjo I can fairly say my mind would be fully blown if Stewart showed up with it at the Ryman.

I believe he said it hadn't been tuned in 20 years. When Meg and I told him we had the Andy print of him with the banjo, he kindly obliged when asked to recreate the throb pose.

He also told us some funny stories about tourzilla and other things. He was really generous and magnanimous. He also said some things that clearly weren't meant to be repeated publicly, so we'll just have to leave those stories for another get together.
