LA Nutters: Mini Konvention for Dietmar

Hot.

BTW, I just checked Dietmar's flight status, and he is currently over the Atlantic Ocean at about Iceland longitude. If I'm calculating correctly, the British Isles should wave hello to the skies in about an hour.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

I'm so happy you had such a great trip with a fantastic ending, Dietmar. Like the rest, I'm anxious for details and pictures but I'm happy to wait until you're well rested and had some time to relax with Sabine and your cats.

DM, old habits seem to die hard after a year and more of tracking the flag around the world. Now you're tracking the Dietmar.

OT, but DM, have you been watching Harry Potter 5 or something? The rhythm of that statement reminds me of "I live to serve the noble House of Black."

Enjoy a blissful sleep, Dietmar.

so by now I slept a lot and feel adjusted to German time and weather again (it's bad!)

that whole week in the US was a continous meal with friends.
the Diet needs a diet, if you know what I mean...

LA weather and opportunities were so great - I envy all you people around there!

meeting Stewart at his studio was unexpected as well, as everything happened at the last minute.
but thanks to my lucky blue shirt (which was also around in Munich 2006, Vancouver 2007 and at the Apollo 2008) everything worked just fine!

Meg, Dan and I went there Sunday afternoon and I was immediately tested about my Police knowledge. Stewart took out his 1977 diary and asked me what happened on May 12. As my answer was correct we didn't have to leave immediately.

We listened to a bit to the forthcoming Ben Hur music and saw some stage directions. We also had a look at his new book (in progress) and its real cover.

I was able to ask the man a few pressing questions about 1977 stuff - it's hard to find out which advertised concerts really took place without consulting witnesses... And now a lot of questions are answered and I can finally bring the Police wiki closer to perfection.

But in a way I felt bad about questioning him that way. Felt a bit like intruding too much into his private history... He didn't mind, I guess, but I did. So somehow I made myself feel a bit uncomfortable there, but anyway, I had to ask a few questions. But now I also know about laundry and stuff...

OK, that studio has quite some stuff in it. Instruments and technical equipment, obviously. Books, memorabilia, records, a green flag.

Photos were taken, but not by me.
I only took very few photos in New York (you've all seen this kind of photos from the other nutters) and in LA (will add a few on my flickr page soon.

I love it.

Great to hear about your visit with Stewart, Dietmar. It sounds about as right and natural as breathing, to me.

Also good to hear you're feeling rested, and back in synch with the proper time zone. NY weather has been pretty sucky, too...pretty much since you left! Thanks for brightening things up a bit with your post!

It's called humility and it's a good quality in my opinion. He is a rock god after all. Though, I am curious about his laundry. Haha.

Can't wait for the pictures! Thanks for the update on your monumental visit!

Can I just add that Dietmar was a blast to show around (such as I could, not being a resident of L.A., but we managed to find the Santa Monica Pier, Amoeba Records, a few other things while the other kids were busy). Anyway, everywhere we went he kept talking about how cool it was to be somewhere new and how much he loved being there and appreciated his friends making an effort to greet him.

I hope I'm not embarrassing you by saying all this, Dietmar, but you were a real joy. There's nothing nerdy about or wrong with knowing pretty much all that's knowable about a band you love. And I can't wait for the Wiki updates. Come back to see us soon, please! -Dive

Good to hear you got home safe and sound and are rested up.
I'm sure you walked off those Fat Annie's cheese curds while you were out in LA. (Of course, we don't know what kind of LA specialties you indulged in!)

*So* glad to hear you had a good conversation with Stewart! You know he wouldn't have told you stuff if he didn't want to. But you're God.Damn. Diet.Mar! :D You probably know what he was wearing May 12, 1977! BTW, were there any little green shorts amidst the memorabilia??

I've just got a whole load more inarticulate grinning, and this:

I estimate that for every week spent in the USA, the average european visitor gains a kilo or two, and a fondness for hearty portions of really tasty things. So good luck with the Diet diet - I'm still 'two weeks in August' heavier than I used to be, but none the worse for it :-)
