Hugh's comments on a morning talk show today make me think it's likely at least partial hiney.

countdown is 5 hours until I'm in my seat watching the movie! 8)

I never go to the movie theater. This is probably the only movie I'll see all year. Oops. Except for Harry Potter... I've got to see that.

Take this with a grain (or maybe a handful) of salt:

Tomatometer (compilation of all reviews at rottentomatoes.com) results for X-Men Origins:

All critics: only 38% (47 fresh, 76 rotten)
Cream of the Crop critics: an even worse 18% (4 fresh, 18 rotten)

I would be in the minority, I guess -- 3.5/5 on the EQ meter

Dude, Hotel for Dogs was even better reviewed:
44% for all critics, 29% for Cream of the Crop

In comparison:
X-Men (first movie)
80% for all critics, 60% for Cream of the Crop

X2
88% for all critics, 82% for Cream of the Crop

X-Men: Last Stand
56% for all critics, 51% for Cream of the Crop

Watchmen
64% for all critics, 43% for Cream of the Crop

V for Vendetta
73% for all critics, 65% for Cream of the Crop

And finally, just for kicks:
The Big Lebowski
77% for all critics, 58% for Cream of the Crop
(I suspect many critics would give the movie a more favorable review today now that some time has passed and the movie has sunk in)

Again, I didn't post this to dissuade anyone from seeing this movie. As I noted above, I think this is a pretty good movie, and if you like Hugh Jackman, you'll probably like this movie.

I'm holding off all opinion or criticism until I see it. I never listen to other people/critics until I see it for myself.

We'll see how I feel in a few hours! :D

HAHAHHAHAHA!!! Although I know it would freak me out to have my mom posting about Hugh Jackman's butt, so I probably shouldn't laugh. Sorry, E! *still thinks Lilrock is funny as hell*

saw it this week. hugh is excellent as you would expect and so is schrieber (doing well with a 2 dimensional character). however IMO gareth edward's review got it right. http://www.darkhorizons.com/reviews/919 ... Wolverine/

IMO it's a classic example of film studio saying "the audience can't handle an intelligent film, let's dumb this down as much as possible". X2 was great, i don't know what happened after that. real shame, there was so much juicy stuff from wolverine's past to draw from and they give us this dull 100 minute video clip. humbug.

*sigh*
I just hope they have not “dumbed” it down too much and made it one dimensional.
Have the studios not learned from Lord of the Rings, the new Batman, that you can have a complicated plot, and god forbid “dark” and still make a gazillion dollars? The audiences out there are not that stupid.
Have we got touchdown

The portion of the reviews the floozies here are probably most interested in:

QUOTE

The cast is the biggest slice of muscular beefcake on display this side of "Troy". Jackman spent months getting in shape for this film and he won't let you forget it. Donned in a tank top and form-fitting jeans much of the time and butt naked during one scene (albeit from behind and at a distance), the actor is what grounds the film and saves it from itself at points. You can see how demanding the action is as the veins and muscles of his upper body bulge obscenely, but being the trooper that he is Jackman delivers the determination, the rage, and sadly only glimpses of the sly humor that his portrayal of the character has become so synonymous for.

END QUOTE

Just got back from the theater... disappointed.
They came up with an interesting description of how Deadpool came about (though, not the way it happened) and Liev Schreiber is better than I thought he would be, but there just wasn't enough substance to the movie. Seemed like they crammed too much stuff in and just couldn't spend enough time on all of it. It just wasn't exciting enough.

Sidenote: it's Jackman's very fine ass that you see - a few times.
