URGENT HELP FOR STEWART - WHO TOOK THESE PICS?

Postby Dietmar on 29 Apr 2009 13:57

yeah, Sabine was next to me
but that's not what you needed, is it ?
I know that I took a photo like this to get the people on the ground floor in the picture
maybe I sent this photo to those people who've been there, like Giovanni (I know that I've seen him there)

Whoops. Sorry folks, didn't know you were still posting since I know you're way busy today. Was just editing my last post.

To wit: I've had a chance to look at four or five other ppl and none of them are Dietmar's vantage point. Here's Beata's post re: not getting her camera in...not trying to be obnoxious, just to save you guys from spinning your wheels looking for stuff that may not be around...

IF it's my photo then I have sent a larger version of that photo to people who were in the crowd / the names Dirty Martini mentioned / as she already tries to contact them I'll stop investigating for now...

although that's hard

Thanks, DD -- I'm already making us late over here.

D, what's bugging me is why the photo looks familiar to me since I wasn't in the crowd. I'll check my email though. Fingers crossed that it's yours for ease. I just remember looking at that thing in search of flag/Daft/Hannah. (And now I'm obsessing.)

ETA: Wait, no -- I have discs of photos from Dietmar, Takeshi, and Sandy -- so it's entirely likely I saw that photo on one of your discs, D. (Now I really hope it's your photo cuz this is going to make me insane.)

I'm leaving, I swear. Good luck, all!

One more ETA cuz I forgot before:
yeah, Sabine was next to me
And scene.

Here's the Turin shot.

It's from an outfit called Corriere.

http://www.corriere.it/Fotogallery/Tagl ... POL/06.JPG

photographer is Filippo Alfero, from Lapresse. Here's the link to the larger article containing the photo:

http://www.corriere.it/spettacoli/07_ot ... ting.shtml

(to reach it, click on one of the thumbnails featuring SC or Sting...a photo gallery will pop up with this shot as the #6 selection)

ETA: Whoops! On closer examination this isn't the exact shot. But it's the same vantage point and I'd bet my boots the same camera...so I'll keep digging for more from this photog.

Yeah, but it's pretty clearly the same guy or at least the same press-pool vantage. No way would you get this field of vision using a handheld camera. This is a Nikon or another really good SLR - which we fans were generally not allowed to carry into the venues. (It looks like the same lens and the lighting settings are also the same - photonerd mode off)

I'd pick up the phone & call were I not located on another continent ;)

ETA: While digging I just found a photo some of y'all are gonna love:

Postby Pre-Legacy A152 on 29 Apr 2009 14:33

I have forwarded an email to Beata just in case she knows,
I was in 5th row to Stewpot's left, Sarah from Tooting was
front and center, Miss Meg was in that neighborhood too ...

Update: The original Turin photo requested by Gio/Stewart is here:

http://www.lastampa.it/multimedia/cultu ... police.jpg

Page with the photo as part of a multimedia show (it's image #3):

http://www.lastampa.it/multimedia/multi ... LLERY#mpos

Folks whose Italian is better than mine will need to scan for a photo credit...but again, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's Alfero, based on focal length similarities to the other shot known to be his.
