I think the more interesting question posed by Throb is "Did they get it right?"

I am huge Watchmen fan. When the movie came out, one of the main reasons why some critics panned it was that it was TOO faithful to the source material (except for the squid part, though I actually think the change was an improvement).

On the other hand, you have people who get really annoyed when the movie strays too far from the source material, like my prior comment about the third movie fucking up the Phoenix saga.

Well, my thought is this. A moviemaker is under no duty to replicate the source material. The real question is whether the movie is good/ enjoyable/ well done.

Does X-Men: Origins stray from the source material? It is my understanding that it does. But is the movie enjoyable, even if you are very familiar with the source material. I would strongly suspect so.

[quote="TheEqualizer"]The problem with these X-Men movies (which I really like) is that there are too many characters and you don't get enough time with some of them."

Yes, totally agree... hopefully "origins" will remedy that, unfortunately we have to wait so stinkin long between movies....

[quote="TheEqualizer"]was always annoyed that Toad got killed off in the first movie. What a crime. Especially when the extremely boring Cyclops made it through 2 1/2 movies plus . . ."

My theory on that one was because Cyclops was HOT, and got good reviews w/ the ladies.. did you see how they made him look in the last movie? Just a thought...

And, I know you mentioned it somewhere, but I totally am THERE with you on the Phoenix saga, that was really a disappointment. Maybe origins will do a movie on her.

Anyway, 7 more days!!!!

As a comics fan growing up, including the Watchmen, I'm always cringing whenever I hear they're going to make a comic product into a movie because they always hype the movies way too much that I'm sick of the movie even before it is released.

I think Alan Moore was right that it was just impossible to translate the Watchmen completely to film as are all of his works since they are so dense and I hope Hollywood will finally stop butchering his work after the dismal box office performance of the movie.

All the hype is to be sure that the $$ is made in the first weekend. So, even if a movie stinks, it makes its money back in the first weekend.

They've said that there was some plot tweaking, but we'll see how it goes. There was video of Hugh talking about the changes at a con. It's a shame, but most stories have to be altered to go from page to screen. I have a feeling it's going to be excellent!

Hasn't the whole Wolverine continuity been fubar'd numerous times in the comic anyway? I'm really not that up on it. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good flick!

It said "partial" nudity... for all we know it's because Ryan Reynolds doesn't have a shirt on. The best we can hope for is a 1/4 second ass shot. Which is of course good enough for me.

OR

Most likely, it's boobs.

Does a movie have to have a partial nudity advisory if they're man-boobs?
