The problem with these X-Men movies (which I really like) is that there are too many characters and you don't get enough time with some of them. If you are a fan of the comic, it is a bit disappointing to see some essentially major characters relegated to almost cameo status. For example, in the first X-Men movie, Sabertooth was essentially just a bit character. Luckily, they rectify that sin in this new movie.

I know that limited screen time is inherent in an X Men movie, and I don't mind this too much if they reappear multiple times in subsequent movies. However, what sucks the most is when a really interesting character in the comics has pretty much a bit part in the movie and then gets killed off in the movie so there is no chance for further development in later movies. I was always annoyed that Toad got killed off in the first movie. What a crime. Especially when the extremely boring Cyclops made it through 2 1/2 movies plus . . .

As a side note, the movie I'm stoked about is the new Star Trek reboot (yes, I'm a major geek/nerd at heart).

Omg
X Men in a week.
The week after that Star Trek.
Does life get any better than that? :D :D
Except for Tourzilla of course.
The new ST looks fantastic. The review in Variety yesterday said it would transport fans to sci-fi nirvana and the effects make the first Star Trek The Motion Picture look like it came out sixty years ago instead of thirty.

I am such a geek I was at the first showing for Star Trek The Motion Picutre at 10 o'clock in the morning Friday December 7,1979. My Mom had to take me and we had to get in line early.
No internet presale back then !!!!

I really hope the new X Men is great, I was a bit dissapointed in the last one.

I think most X-Men fans were disappointed in the last one. How do you fuck up the Phoenix saga? Oh yeah, hire Brett Ratner as the director.

So EQ did you like this one more than the last? Did they get it right?

:? Er, um I mean do you THINK it will be better than the last once it is in theaters for all to see?

It is my understanding that this one is better than the last one, but that last one sets the bar kind of low.

I've heard comparisons to The Dark Knight, but I am not sure its wise to go into the movie with those kinds of expectations.
