Cool blueboy, thanks! I used to have 'Thrak' before I had to sell all my CD's for tax $$....what a drag that was. That was years ago, and I've been rebuilding my collection ever since.

Wow, I never thought I'd every hear Shatner's name mentioned on a music related forum, except maybe in jest. I actually really dig 'Has Been', there are some great songs on there! Having Ben Folds produce was a great choice, and with the work of Matt Chamberlain on the skins you just can't go wrong. He is definitely on my list of top drummers Dive....

Folds is a local, too, and I've heard from folks down at my local purveyor of independent music that he's a cool cat as well.

I have to tell you, it really doesn't suck to live in Nashville, except that people keep blaming us for Garth Brooks. ;) Just wish there were a way to get the hundreds of excellent local rock bands anywhere near the level of airplay the purveyors of corny trash get...but on the other hand, you can pay 5 bucks here and wander into any bar in town, and see an excellent show. That would probably change were all these people really famous.

I wish things were that cool here in Portland, Dive. We've got our share of good bands here in the NW, but it almost seems like the more a band sucks, the more people in Portland will be into you. The more a band has the ability to be on the radio, with catchy songs and strong musicianship, the less they like you.

Maybe if I sang, our band would do better...

It really helps that we have four or five truly huge universities around here - including a couple that are land-grant historically African-American schools, so we get all kinds of stuff, including really great funk and hiphop.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who like all the cornpone as well, and radio stations here really suck, with a couple of exceptions - mostly college radio and low power FM. Our low power station - as heard at radiofreenashville.org - is picking up steam, though, so maybe it'll be more than 100 watts here shortly.
