I've also been checking out the 2009 SXSW DVDs. There's some great stuff on there, but it's taking forever to go through it.

Yeah, I can't even figure out what we do and don't have from SXSW and which years it's all from. Nice stuff though.

Just wish they'd make tix to SXSW less expensive. Every year I consider going, but tix are >$600, and I've heard a lot of stories about folks not being able to get into X venue to see specific bands, even after they've shelled out coin. Plus, the hotel packages are outtasite. Sigh.

I read recently that most of the attendees are employees of various media outlets, & the bosses pick up the tab. Which explains most of it, sadly.

Yeah, pretty much. Most folks who get to take advantage of the music part do so by working (or "working") the conference part. Best way to get there is to have a company who'll pay or a decent freelance biz that you can write the whole trip off to.
