Are we trying to read into this too much?
Probably.

Notice I didn't say unabashedly "YES!". I think we all are hoping for a re-reunion. Whether it'll happen is anyones guess, but hope is a wonderful thing to hang ones hat on...
I miss my Police buddies...

ETA -- OT: I admit that I marvel at (and rag on) Stewart's egregious deficiency in self-promotion (and take pity on his publicist), but I also have to give some credit: over a year and a half, the single most effective buzz generator of the Police tour was the Disaster Gig post. For better or worse, it was spontaneous, organic, and (with maybe the exception of the Grammys/Whisky announcement, but I dunno) it reached exponentially more eyeballs than anything set up by the promoters. I gotta wonder how much more epic things could have gotten this go-round had there been less silence.
Oh believe me, I'm full aware of this phenomenon from too many years in fandom: (fan)wank is ALWAYS a surefire way to drum up attention and mass interest. And in that way I totally agree; "Disaster Gig" was brilliant marketing, if nothing else.

But the problem with wank is it usually leads to a lot of less-positive fallout as well...which is why one "bomb" dropped can do the trick pretty well, but more than that can be more trouble than it's worth...

Truth.^ Good point, sock.
Interesting how the message on TP.com website omits the phrase "and once again gone their separate ways".

WTF??? I saw that there a few days ago. Now the story was rewritten? They're messin wit our heads me thinks...

I really don't think Sting has any intentions to ever create music with the guys again. I think the machine is just leading us on to generate dollars somehow. A 'dead' project probbaly makes less money than a "wait and see" project.
