Did you ever see the scene in Coffee and Cigarettes with the two of them?

The only ones I am really interested in regarding the above are Costello and Green Day, but I thought others might be interested in some of the others I listed. Is it just me, or is this a substantial amount of new stuff coming out in a short period of time?

I'm digging the new Doves CD Kingdom of Rust that came out yesterday. I'm going to see them at the 9:30 club in DC in June.

Also eagerly awaiting the release of the Dares debut CD which I think is coming out on Jive records later this year. Ian was definitely on to something when he discovered them. They're sound has matured nicely. I can't believe how much they've grown since I last saw them back in 2006.

I can't remember which thread it was, but Pluto posted some vids of Prince performing some of his new stuff. I bought the CD (3 pack for ~12 bucks at Target) and it is really awesome. I haven't really listened to his work for a few years, but I'm really enjoying this.
I can see later tonight I'll be popping this on the player and trying to play with it too. The drums are really obvious in the mix and I'm loving the funkyness (sp.) of it.

He covers Crimson and Clover on it -- niiiiiiice version.

Thought this might be the right place for such a thought...

Next Saturday is Record Store Day...yeah, I know, what day don't they have a day for <grin> However, this is a day for independent record stores all across the US, so it's a good one of those days!

Like over 700 indie record stores across the US are having celebrations including live performances by artists...even here in Columbia, sc--predominantly known for where Hootie and the Blowfish hail from, so hardly your cosmopolitan music capital--they are having a huge in-store event with live bands, etc.

Check here for more info including an interactive map (click on 'participating stores' tab) that shows what might be going on in your area & support your local indie record store:

Just in from WilcoHQ:

"Well, we made it nearly a month with copies of Wilco (the album) floating around out there before it leaked. Pretty impressive restraint in this day and age. But the inevitable happened last night. Since we know you're curious and probably have better things to do than scour the internet for a download (though we do understand the attraction of the illicit), we've posted a stream of the full album at http://wilcoworld.net/records/thealbum/ . Feel free to refer to it as "wilco (the stream)" if you must.

We also have our usual guilt abatement plan for downloaders. If you have downloaded the record, we suggest you make a donation to one of the band's favorite charities, the Inspiration Corporation -- an organization we've supported in the past & who are doing great work in the city of Chicago. Information and donation button here: http://inspirationcorp.org/.

That's all. Enjoy the stream. Tickets for summer shows, etc. http://wilcoworld.net/tours/ Note that we'll be holding a free online midnight screening of the "Ashes of American Flags" film this Friday night (at both midnight US Central time and again at midnight Pacific). So get the popcorn or whatever together and be sure to log on and tune in on Friday.

Wilco HQ"
