How come they couldn't tell us earlier on?

I'm sure they probably got together a few times and jammed, just to make sure the old anger didn't come rushing back like Stewart mentioned in the Outlandos to Synchronicity vid. We wouldn't want any more broken ribs now would we?

Take a look at the new "official" band photo....

...then take a look at the photo taken of the band during the Sundance film festival.

They are both taken by the same photographer, and unless the band likes to wear the same clothes all the time...it looks suspiciously like this has been in the works for a while. There would have been no reason to take a posed "band" photo back then.

Maybe it's just the conspiracy theorist coming out in me though...

At the press conference, Sting said he woke up about three months prior and realized he needed to call Stew and Andy because he'd somehow decided the Police should tour. That's the only official story i know about so far. I've little doubt Stew himself will be telling us all about it, probably sooner than later. Should be a fascinating dinner tale!

The Sting.com folks appear to be "dittoing" that time frame. (Not a real word, I know.)

I definitely believe the movie had something to do with it, even if it just got Sting pummelled with questions and comments about a Police reunion. Something along the way changed his mind! But if the call was made three months before, i'd say it was a quick turnaround letting us know.
