I saw Sting yesterday
Would anyone like to venture a guess as to what this new wine will be named?? Hmmm, some very interesting possibilities I'm sure.
Funny you should ask this. I just came across the following from On the Record, the InMusic blog:

"The name of the wine has yet to be revealed but it will apparently be a 2007 vintage based on the Sangiovese grape, with a touch of Cabernet and Merlot. A 2008 Chianti could also go on sale in the fall.

Might I suggest for a name something from some of the cheesy headlines this story has prompted on the wires, such as "Every Sip You Take" or "Message in a Bottle of Wine"?

Apparently the vintage has a heavy mouthfeel of self righteousness and leaves a lingering longing for Stewart Copeland on the palate."

Gio, you (and gordo's whining) get a mention in The Times (online):
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_a ... 887740.ece

"Italian fans who attended the meeting said that they would buy the new wine the moment it appeared. "We have always bought Sting's honey and oil," Giovanni Pollastri and Lidia Di Corato told Corriere della Sera. "In fact with all the money we have spent supporting his agricultural produce we deserve a free bottle."

here's a link to stingus which has the film of the press conference thingy.....
(check out the bags under gordo's eyes.. despite the brahn 'air he looks old and knackered... he wasn't lying when he said he flew in the day before...)

it was a big thing in the 70's and early 80's for celebrities to open california wineries - italy is interesting.

Gordo is cool, but I really liked the fact that in my country this was in the news with the heading 'lead singer of legendary band the Police to produce wines'... you know what I mean :D
