For discussion..."new" songs on the tour?

I think they should play Nothing Achieving and dedicate it to Ian. And I'd like to see Stink belt that out. :-P Let's REALLY see if he remembers how to be 24 and angry, lol.

Secret Journey was always one of my favourites, and the instrumental from the Brimstone & Treacle soundtrack whose name escapes me and I'm too lazy to go look it up right now.

Once Upon A Daydream would be cool too.

It says right at the beginning of the clip-- Gusman Theater, Miami, October 1979.

I will love each song The Police will decide to play.

I hope they use Copeland's derangements style from 'Everyone Stares the movie...

Masoko, Darkness, A Kind of Loving (with the lyrics and screaming, thanks.)
Shambelle, Flexible Strategies, A Sermon...
I never really considered "Visions" anything more than a quickie, really. Once Upon a Daydream & Friends...

What's there not to like about "A Kind of Loving" the way it was recorded?

Also, has anyone started a "Please don't play these songs on tour" thread yet?

FALLOUT!! And I have to agree as well about the last 4 songs off of Ghost....still my favorite ending to ANY album out there. The drummer in me has to hear No Time This Time as well....one of my top 23589640234 songs that Stewart plays drums on! OK, so I just hit the keyboard, but a guy can WISH for that many songs with Stewart's drumming on them, can't he?!

I remember having seen another song from that same concert: "Bed's too big without you". It was along with this "Can't stand" version in a documentary called "British rock". I'm not sure of the title. These two performances were absolutely fantastic. I don't know if the whole concert was ever taped: just like in the "Outlandos to Synchronicities", the beginning of "Can't stand losing you" is cut. But if the rest of the show is of the same quality, God, it's a must see and should come out on DVD in priority!

Yes, "Nothing achieving", just for Ian. That would be cool.

On the "political" songs, I wonder if they can shock that much? If it's the case, well, they can do an instrumental version of "Rehumanize"! ...Or they can put the EBYT lyrics on it. That would rock!

I don't know...I've always thought singing about politics is like dancing about mathematics, or whatever that quote is. The personal songs are always more powerful. That said, my comment is as much about wanting them to succeed to the fullest extent as it is about any personal irritation I might have with Sting's lecturing tone on some of the songs in question. I think a lot of people are probably looking at the Police reunion and hoping for a kind of positive, "unifying" experience where they can leave all that crap behind for a while. Then again, maybe they can't avoid playing something like "Driven to Tears" (which is a great song whatever you think of the lyrics). I don't know.

I guess there's just something about a multi-millionaire rock star singing "how can you say you're not responsible" at you, after taking a sizable sum of your money, that I sense might rub some people the wrong way in our current hyper-political environment.

They're smart guys, and I'm sure they'll think about these things and deal with it however they feel it's appropriate for them, though. The above is just my 2 cents.

The screaming lacks any musical validity first and foremost for me. It's not rhythmically arranged or particularly melodic. This is coming from somebody with a sincere appreciation for noise as sonic art. I like stuff that would make most people's toes curl, but it just doesn't work here IMO.

It's also a female lead vocal from somebody who obviously isn't in the Police, so it's harder to work into a live format. As for Sting's dialogue, well, imagine him delivering "Shut up, you b****, shut up!!" to a huge audience. I just don't think so...

Finally, the context of what the vocals depict, ie rape, is unpleasant at best. Maybe the intent is darkly comical, but that's a tough subject to make funny.

The instrumentation is excellent and i would love to hear it shine by itself if they choose to play it. It does have a decent amount of exposure due to its place on the box set, but i still think the song is unlikely to get any attention. A better pick from that album would be "Spread A Little Happiness!" :)

What's the use of worrying
And feeling blue
When days are long
Keep on smiling thru
Spread a little happiness
Til dreams come true

Words to live by!
