You get your own entrance and a better campsite for the price of the VIP tix. You also get a spot in the bleachers set up by the two main stages, so you don't have to sit on the ground in the crowd. They're not right up front, but the sight lines are at least decent. There's also a special VIP area, and last year a few of the bands played concerts in there - although I wouldn't set hopes on getting to see our guys there. (I'm still hoping against hope for a Ryman Auditorium date in Nashville...especially since I heard a rumor that Stewart's interested in bluegrass these days. )

You do camp next to your car, cp. I hear folks recommend you bring a camp shower, water canteens, etc., because allegedly the shower facilities are pretty primitive. I'm a camper myself and would do it in a heartbeat were it not for the fact that I'm also an insanely light sleeper and I understand people have a tendency to party all night at this thing.

You can also get yourself an RV pass, seems like the cost last year was around 50 bucks. I've often considered the RV-rental route for this thing. There aren't any water or electricity hookups, but at least you'd have privacy, less noise and doors you could lock.

I suspect A LOT of people will come this year because the word is getting out on the rapid sellout of Police tix in other venues. Also, getting here is relatively easy, since TN is centrally located and Southwest Airlines flies to Nashville. So be ready to buy those tix the minute they go on sale if you're even considering coming. You can always unload them later on Ebay if you wind up having to change your plans.

It'd be great... though the four days sounds sooo exhausting.

No way! I wouldn't miss it for the world! My only choice is whether to spring for VIP or just go with General Admission. Sounds like hub is into the VIP tickets, so we may go that route. We'd still be around to hang out with others before and after the show, though. (VIP ticketholders get their own seating area, which is mildly better than the Gen'l Admission grounds.)

I'm trying to convince my girlfriend for VIP tickets, but there are absolutely no bands she's interested in. She likes the Police but doesn't love them like me... meaning she isn't willing to spend a life's saving on it yet.

The VIP just sounds gorgeous to my ears in light of the mess of General Admission (oh my God, I sound like a yuppie), we'll see though.

Last year VIP ticketholders got access to a special viewing platform up over the main stage. There's no mention of it on this year's VIP ticket page, tho...I'm trying to get the scoop. Will let you know.

So is driving in there to park with your car crazy? How early can you get to Bonnaroo? Is it true you can get there like several days in advance and just camp out?

Also, leaving the festival...Would it be tough to leave early Sunday morning after seeing the police Saturday night? Could I get my car out of there? I would hate to stay until everyone leaves at the same time!

It is not crazy at all. The first year traffic was backed up 12+ hours...in '04 it took us three or so hours to get in, but last year it was maybe an hour. Not painful at all. We stayed in a local hotel, and every day after the initial day we sailed right in. Some people go to a nearby KOA camp and wait till the gates open, but the official entry is sometime Thursday morning. (This will all be on Bonnaroo.com shortly, I would think.)

I don't think you'll have a problem getting out Sunday, either. They really have straightened out the traffic snarls in there.

$200 is a low price to pay considering you at least have control of how close you can get to the stage to see The Police! (depending on how your tolerance is for heat and being up close and personal with others!)

I'm buying a general admission ticket and I am going to plan and work hard to get the best view possible Saturday night. I even emailed the festival about volunteering. (We'll see what they say if/when they get back to me, then I'll choose what I'm doing for sure).

I am still really interested in us forming the "Stew Circle." We could all custom make our own shirts with our forum names on them and work together to have a collective out of body Police experience. That would be fun, don't you think?

That sounds good. You're in Atlanta? I'm at school in FSU... we should ride together! Haha.

Down here nobody is interested. The line up isn't drawing any interest.
