Planning on Bonnaroo? Post Here!

Postby GinaSuperCat on 13 Feb 2007 21:02

At Dive's suggestion, I am starting a separate thread for those who are thinking/planning on attending Bonnaroo this year. I am definitely going to try for VIP passes and making it my big concert splurge of the summer.

The official lineup is supposed to be posted at 12 am EST (est is gmt minus 5, this 5am gmt) with further information about when the ticket sales open.

As mentioned in the previous thread, you can sign up for the e-list at bonnaroo.com for announcements, etc.

This may be jumping the gun, but if the set list I posted in the other thread is anywhere near the official lineup:

I'm in!

This is sounding like my best (definitely closest) option so far, but i'm hearing VIP passes are upwards of $400!! WTF??! I'll probably have to settle for general admission.

The consolation i'm seeing amid this frenzied brouhaha is that they will hopefully continue on past this initial tour. Hopefully i and others will get to see them later under more ideal conditions.

If the line up is strong and the VIP passes aren't too expensive, I'm there.

According to what I can find, VIP passes are sold in pairs only and will be more than $400 each so, (likely 1100 pair) unfortunately, this is probably not good news people had wanted!

I'm gonna blow my entire 2007 entertainment budget on the one festival if my hubby is able to get tickets, at least until the flip side of the American dates. Then I'll dip into my food budget for a few Police shows in the fall, lol. The VIP passes are shockingly expensive, I know, but since it includes camping and even food catered for lunch and dinner I'm just gonna camp on site (no hotel), bring some snacks and water from home, live off whatever I can forage in the VIP area and not spend a cent once there (which will be easy, since I will have not a cent left until Sept :) I think you even get a t shirt--lol. The gen admission passes are much less, of course, I think around 200 for the whole weekend...

The lineup is inforoo is freaking sweet and the word is that tickets will be going on sale on Friday at 12:00 noon EST instead of tomorrow.

I am planning on buying one general admission ticket and parking my ass near the stage for 2 days.

I attended Woodstock 94 (the nice one, not the rape, pillage, and burn-stock in '99). There was 300,000+ people so I can handle Bonnaroo. My wife says she is not going to brave it though.

Dive....when should I get there if I want any chance of being within 100 yards of Stew and the Gang on Saturday?

Should we Stew forumers meet up and form a collective circle near the stage at the show and defend our turf? Or is it anything goes? I imagine if you don't mind getting sweaty up on someone you don't know you could get near the stage to enjoy the show..couldn't you? Yuk! :x

What cracked me up the most on inforoo (iirc) was the thread about the endless possibilities opened up by adult diaper usage for Bonnaroo--I laughed for about two days and then started thinking about the strategic brilliance /grin

count me in for the Stewart fan coalition!

Woodstock was also in upstate NY where it's hot, but not as hot as Tennessee.

I would say it'll be hell to get near there and you'll probably have to brave it all day long.

Good luck. I can't do it.

You know, here's something worth a shot. If a bunch of forum people decide they want to see the Bonnaroo show, we could get there as a group, set up a small camp and seriously defend our territory. Not in a jerk-like way, more 'polite but firm.' You're allowed to bring in a picnic blanket and low-slung beach chairs (NOT full size lawn chairs...chairs that are 12" off the ground or less only.)

Problem is that there'll be other shows on that stage all day, so the first chance we'd get is immediately after the preceding act - unless we got there early, say 10 AM, staked out the spot, and then watched whoever else is on the What stage that day. It's a hassle to get out to get to the bathroom and get drinks once you're in there, but it'd be manageable if we had a group of people and could take turns.

Blue is right - it will be *really* hot. They have tents with water, and even a big fun fountain, but if you have issues with direct sun (you can bring hats and sunblock, of course) this might not be the best show for you unless you buy VIP tix (VIPs get bleacher seating and other goodies.)

If Gina's right (and my local sources say she's 100% correct), this'll be a great lineup, and well worth the price of admission. I'll let you know (most likely via email) if I find out any other scoop. I may go the VIP route, so I'd be around, but I might not camp out in the infield...FYI for making plans.

You are allowed small snacks, but no bottled water, IIRC. You can bring those Camelback backpacks, but they have to be empty when you enter. You can buy bottled water (of course) for around $3 a pop...lots of other beverages and food available onsite as well. (Remember you can always pop back out to your campsite for refreshments, but it's a hike - probably a half hour one-way, depending on how early you got there and set up camp.)

They do have small boxcars kitted out with water faucets that you can use to fill up Nalgene bottles and whatnot. However, there's usually a long line with intermittent outages. I understand that is supposed to be better this year, since AC Entertainment has purchased the festival grounds and is allegedly putting in additional facilities.

I think it'd be fun if we all went together. It'd give us a chance to meet and we'd see the Police together. Anyone down?

I'm down for that. I am getting my ticket for Bonnaroo Friday Feb 23rd of course. I just have to decide when to get there and who to camp out with.

I understand you camp by your cars? In that case, I will sleep in my Honda Element. Ohh this is exciting! I can pretend like I'm the real outdoorsy type for a few days and actually use my car for what is was designed for! YAY! :D

That's funny, blue, since earlier in the thread you counted yourself out.

Forming up a small army, are we? I am imagining how fun a trip like that would be. I'm still split on whether to get general admission, VIP tix, or to not go at all! I still need to chat with some local pals to see if anybody's up for the trip.
