[quote="Chatchka"]I'm reading Daniel Levitin's book that this is based on. It is, well, interesting, but really odd too. When I finish it, I'm willing to share more. I started it and got through 2/3 of it on vacation in October, haven't touched it since, and now FEAR that I'll have to wade through it from the start again to have it make sense the rest of the way through.
He made some interesting observations, such as musicians were more likely to get laid and procreate because people were biologically attracted to people with musical brains -- for all of time, not just recently. (that is beer paraphrasing -- beeraphrasing, maybe? Schmaffy?)
Here is the link to the book anyway...

Chatchka - thanks for the link! I'd read an article about this months back and could not remember the title, the 'who', yadda yadda. Shit - wouldn't it be great if we still had 15 year old brains, never mind musical ones?
Question. (Hypothesis?). Maybe nothing to do with the 'musical brain', whatever the gong that is, and all to do with the loud rhythmic display? Casual observation suggests that works for many species.....
