Small Flag update - a new photo courtesy of St. Jeff

I just wanted to give you folks a quick update on that green beast that has come to be known by witnesses and victims alike as the Flag:

Though I have received vague reports of the Flag's return to the land of Copelandia over the past couple of months, undercover operative Jeff Seitz was able to procure (rather excitedly, I might add) the first photographic evidence of the Green Goblin's release from the framer's:

The photo is fuzzy, having been shot hastily by camera phone, but the frame seems to be of a simple black-stained wood variety to match the general decor, and I am assured by witnesses on the ground that it is indeed double-sided so that both the logo and signature sides can be viewed. Despite its custom-tailored new clothes but true to its nature, the Flag remains as unaesthetic as ever.

I'm glad not to be the person having to decide how to actually hang the thing, but I am assured that it will occupy a place of honor in the KK studio sanctuary. (In the meantime, I take comfort in knowing that I'm not the only person with tasks left over from summer that still have yet to be completed.) Agent Seitz has vowed to obtain clearer evidence of the Flag's updated status with a regular camera and has been instructed to get the tall lanky dude to smile pretty alongside.

In related news, I thought I'd mention to the folks who haven't already heard that I'm currently working on chronicling the Flag's journey around the globe. So if you have ever heard about, thought about, seen, been seen by, touched, been touched by, loved, hated, spoken about, spoken to, sung about, sung to, sung with, gotten drunk with, gotten baked with, or gotten arrested with the Flag (or read, uttered, or heard the word "flag" (verb or noun)) in the past two years, please be prepared to make a statement.

PS -- Over the past few months, IndyGirl, policerule, Susan, Lynne, and bella have all been kind enough to help gather photos together for the Flag Gallery, but due to the interruptions of life, the gallery is still very much under construction. (The final MSG gallery exists in part but is hidden since it's about as organized as a hurricane right now.)

If anyone has some time that they can spare to help finish putting the gallery together, kindly drop me a line.

That aside, (she says, avoiding the goo around the letter A - yuck) you know how sometimes things sneak up on you? Life is just doing its thing, and a little strangeness occurs - which is a cool and fabulous strangeness, but normal life goes on, so you enjoy the strange shit but don't really pause and think about it too much? The strangeness gets incrementally stranger, so like the proverbial frog in a gently heated pan of water, you don't notice quite how deeply, deeply strange/warm things have become. And then you find yourself in touch with people all over the planet.

Seeing that gorgeously rancid rag in a frame has woken me up to the fact that I had a fucking incredible year-plus. And it probably isn't a cool or rational thing to say, but the tour would have happened anyway, it would have been good to see a few shows, but that rancid rag was the indirect cause of all the really good stuff.

Mission control? Mission accomplished, and waaaaay more besides. Thank you Kellie.

Cool, despite the visible thumbtacks! It would have needed a restoration process, but this would have caused one of the biggest epidemics ever known in the Western world, so I'm glad to know it's under glass now.

Hopefully we will see the tall lanky guy again - 5 months are a fookin' long time.

I love how the flag's craggy look reflects is arduous and often harrrowing journey, like an aged seafarer's countenance of ancient yore. Or El Gordo's face after Tourzilla's completion.

Thanks, Kellie and St. Jeff, for the update and photo! Glad to hear the biohazard has been contained behind glass. I imagine they could hang it from the ceiling so that both sides could be seen?
