HM! That would kinda rule. I really liked Dallas when I went down there in June '07 for two Police shows. Plus, we have a Nutter there...er, Dallas - who'd probably be happy to see us.

In short, I'm in, for sure - unless it's some date I positively can't make like my anniversary or Hub's birthday...I'm still in the doghouse to some extent for all those Police shows. He did get more vacation time this year at least.

well, it's always fun to speculate, ain't it!

i had a chat with our erstwhile friend craig b. about what the heck is happening with the now fabled 'new old' releases which never saw the light of day when they could sold like hotcakes at the police tour merch tables last year. i was informed that the police's contract with universal reverted back to sting or something like that in the last year which effectively put a stopper on anything vintage being released without sting's approval - which he evidently isn't interested in giving. what happened to 'around the world' on dvd? my understanding is that sting has zero interest in having more (vintage) police material released and he has complete control of that side of his catalogue, aside from the greatest hits which the company can rerelease and repackage until the end of time.

who is this keith guy anyway? rumours will abound for as long as all three members are alive. i think sting has made it pretty clear that he's not going back. the fat lady sang. personally i think it's over. the boys couldn't even agree on how to record and arrange a rehash of 'truth hits' and it was awful live. personally i think we could all do without a mumbly version of that song - "shlee leebehaddy lagga broggan oshan" etc. it was horrible.

however, like i said, it's fun to speculate and nothing will ever diminish the classic status of the back catalogue. i'd welcome a new police record even if it were done in polka style. i just think it's been made pretty clear, by all band members, that it's over...

Yep, Dallas one is one my favorite shows from the tour for lotsa reasons. Dallas is pretty easy for a lot of us to get to since it's a hub for American Airlines and I believe Southwest flies there. If it isn't going to be at the Kennedy Center in DC, Dallas is fine with me!

DM, you captured my thoughts on the subject but with much greater eloquence than I could ever muster.
Another thing that bugged me was the Paris restaurant clip.

Sting can't get over himself, but it's kind of hard to blame the guy. The media can't get over him, either.

Poor Andy! Not being hounded by the press is a good thing, but the situation on that video has to hurt a little.

Hey I don't think that's true! Sting's solo career has been way more popular than Andy's and as a result he's way more famous and he knows it. If he was the cocky bastard most people think he is he would show off for the camera, but it's quite clear here that they wait until they're completely ready, then book it to the car.

Just looked at the Dallas Symphony Orch site. They list May 22, 1900 as the date of the first performance. So, if this DSO lead is correct we may be looking at May 2010.

Yes, but it must be difficult to re-work a song that already exists. Just like when somebody does a remake of a classic (and good!) movie: the original is still there and it's almost impossible to avoid to compare the 2 versions. This must give more pressure than when it's a new and original piece.
Not that I believe they'll do a new album, but working with brand new songs could help to reduce a bit this enormous pressure that probably causes many arguments?
