Paul Wellar - Hit Parade.

Long hot summer is playing and I'm trying to remember when it was warm.

Listening and watching to the Pixies Acoustic Live in Newport DVD that I just bought from Borders during their 30% off sale for around $11 tax inclusive. The Pixies are band that I'm kicking myself for not seeing live when I had the chance.

fleet foxes new album; especially "white winter hymnal"; talk about earworm....

and animal collective's 'merryweather post pavilion' album....

both are strangely medieval madgrigal / electronic, layered vocal, folky (?) type affairs... good shit.

Tough call re: which is Pete's best solo record. There is a strong case that Empty Glass is his best, though I think an equally strong argument can be made for his Chinese Eyes LP.

Playing on my iPod RIGHT NOW - Charlie Parker w/ Dizzy Gillespie (Bird & Diz). Just jaw dropping shit.

That's my second favorite (The Sea Refuses No River, Slit Skirts), but Emtpy Glass to me means a lot more because of personal memories and of some astonishing lyrics like Jools and Jim, I am an Animal, and the title track.
