Stewart's 1990 interview on Bob Costas' Later

Conroy had mentioned on the thread Stewart started the excellent interview with Stewart on the late night NBC show Later with Bob Costas in January 1990.

English Lion posted the 3 part Youtube version in the links a few months back but thought it would worth posting here in light of Conroy's mention.

This really is a great and long interview. Discussing the Police, Animal Logic, childghood, Holy Blood.

I also remember it clearly for another reasons. I stayed up late on Christmas break before my last semmester in college. Since I was on break, I could stay up late easy. Then about 2 hours later, I woke up horribly ill and had to be hospitalized (the last time I have spent the night in the hospital). So this was the last thing I saw before I got sick. Got out of the hospital in a couple days and back to college in time. I then met my wife a couple weeks later.

So January 1990 was a big month. Stewart's Costas interview, short but serious illness, meeting my wife.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I actually had a conversation with Costas about this interview YEARS ago and I remember him telling me the following:

"One of the things about (Stewart) is he's one of these guys you can tell how smart he is the minute he walks in the room."

I thought that was interesting...maybe not...lol

Nice.

Bob, were you just chatting with Costas, or did you manage to sneak a few Stewart questions into an interview you were conducting?

In my first interview with him, which was actually when I was still in college (eesh), Later had been on the air for a few years and after we talked on the record, I had mentioned how much I liked the Stew interview... just small talk...but I think I still have it recorded somewhere.

Had a few other encounters with him over the years, as we ran in the same circles. Always a class act.
