TICKET THREAD

Postby Marshmallow Jones 1 on 13 Feb 2007 16:29

exactly my thoughts kim...

What if 10,000 people have already put down their $100 for pre-sale tiks for the MSG shows? Not unimaginable certainly...it appears from the website that if they run out of pre-sale tickets you basically get in line with everyone else at ticketmaster, so 'thanks for your $100, good luck to you' is what i think you get if you dont get in on the pre-sale.

In their defense, though, you can still buy tickets to other dates, theoretically. And they're coming back to North America in the fall, so these may not be the only shows available in these markets. I would imagine there's a bit of "waiting and see-ing" going on.

On the other hand, there's a new wrinkle to all this that was just made apparent over on the TPT.com boards: Folks can join the fan club tomorrow as they pick out tickets. The casual user can go to Ticketmaster.com, see what seats are available to presale members, and simply add the cost of the Police fan club membership to her purchase price.

So, unfortunately, there's really not much advantage to joining the fan club as far as getting tickets goes. You can watch the video of yesterday's announcement, and talk on an expanded message board, though...

From what I can tell by the presale that just started for the Canadian shows, (without having a password) looks like they don't have a seating chart up for The Police yet. How can one buy tickets without knowing what the setup will be (i.e. stage in centre of arena or to one end of it)?

I'll say it once and I'll say it again, "When did this all get so complicated?"

I'm thinking I'm not gonna waste my presale allotment on MSG. For one, I've already mentioned I don't like the venue, plus I figure everyone and their DOG is gonna go for it. I may go to one of the MSG shows but as long as they're hitting Philly (and Philly IS on the Presskit list of cities with dates to be announced soon), I'd rather use 'em in my home town, which won't draw quite the crowds of New York anyway. But if someone ends up with a decent MSG ticket they need a taker for, well, look me up. )

The boyfriend and I both signed up for the club so we're covered there with 4 tickets each to 2 dates we can get, but I've already got a few local friends I gotta help cover in Philly, so we'll see how it goes. I'm also *really* curious as to whether any of the presale seats actually will be better than regular sale seats, which I've not often found to be the case in the past, though I've never tried presales through a fanclub before (only special promoters like American Express or what-have-you.) One friend of mine might try the Best Buy deal for Philly, so I'll be curious to hear what kind of luck folks have with it on the first round of presales.

As an East Coaster I'm looking primarily at Boston down to BWI for dates & venues I'll likely hit, and then I'm gonna go with friends either to Dallas, Phoenix...at least one show more in the south or west.

I'm also going to take a deep breath and try to relax about it all. I'm sure folks here will help each other out getting tickets and info as much as possible. From what we heard yesterday there will be quite a few dates to be added yet, so don't panic thinking these are the only chances you're going to get...

I got two via Best Buy pre-sale. Floor seats for the 3rd.

I"m very, very happy. I hope everyone gets what they're after...I also have a feeling there are less Best Buy presale available than Police fan club. Just a vibe.

Congrats! How close were your floor seats, by the way? Oh, and I would assume floor seats are the ones in the highest price tier?

Sockii , I hope to see you at the Philly gig, not sure which way I'm gonna try to play this.

Whether to try ticketmaster or comcasttix have you any suggestions?

WTG Bob!! Did you notice if there was a seating chart when you bought (i.e is stage in middle of floor or to one end)? I assume they will have the stage set up the same for all arenas...

I'm not familiar with comcasttix, actually. I've always had pretty good luck getting tickets in Philly just through regular sales on Ticketmaster (though I'm not obsessive about being on the floor and generally tend to prefer the first tier right at the side of the stage, unless I get the floor *really* up close).

I *may* have some radio station connections here, though, that might come through in a pinch for some extra Philly tickets. I can't promise anything yet, though, except I'll be more than happy to play city host to any sc.net folks coming to Philly for shows...we can have a blast here.

Thanks for the info sockii, I guess if everyone tries a different route to get tix, everyone will hopefully be able to see THE GREATEST BAND IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

Didn't notice if there was a seating chart, but I've been at MSG probably 500 times for work/other concerts, so I'm pretty familiar of the names of all the sections, etc.

I ask if anyone knows the stage location because if you are buying upper seats, it would make a difference. You may think one section will be great tickets, but if the stage is set up differently, they may not end up being so great!

Hi Sockii,

Congrats on your trip. Loved reading your account of the story...!

I got section 6 on the floor, which is very much in the middle. They're not bad.

Any word on Philly show times? Guess they're not available for pre-sale tomorrow?

Good point. But I would print out the MSG seating chart before you start! :-)
