TICKET THREAD

TICKET THREAD

Postby Snare on 13 Feb 2007 14:38

Hi all!

I thought we could have a thread to keep track of tickets... plans on getting them and who has been lucky enough to actually get their hands on some! I know that for the Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal concerts, the Best Buy pre-sale starts today... so let's hope some lucky people get their tickets today! Let us know if you do & how it worked out!

As for myself, seeing as I won't have access to any pre-sales, I am going to firstly try someone I know that has contacts in ticketmaster. If that doesn't work out, my nephew & I have a plan coordinated for Saturday... he is going to a ticketmaster sales outlet, I will be on computer, we will stay in touch by cell phone & we will see if either of us will be able to score tickets either way! Craziness!!!

Good luck getting tickets, everyone!!

P.S. I notice some people are selling Best Buy pre-sale codes on Ebay today... one is at $152.00

Just a quick note, because I didn't realize this until I read a post this morning on policetour.com. Members are allowed to use the internet presale code only once in a membership year. If you use your code for an NYC show, you will not be able to try to get any other tickets through the fan club until 08. I was not aware of this and assumed they would run it like U2 did - offering codes for the first slug of shows and then offering codes for the second half of the tour. Not the case, so don't blow your load too early!

So, does that mean you can buy for several shows when using that code one time, or does it mean one show only?

I admit to being slightly confused as to how this is all going to go down.

Sigh. I'm still in L.A., and my Best Buy membership card with my member number on it is at home (and I can't reach anyone at my household for some reason)...so I figure I've missed that presale, but I'll get the one for tomorrow. How do you know which tickets are going to go on sale shortly, again...?

[Edit: Sorry, nevermind. I keep forgetting we have a spiffy new website to check for all this stuff...]

So it's only those three or four dates that the presale applies to now (including NYC). Honestly, I think that's kind of excellent...putting only a few dates on sale at a time. I wonder if they're going to experiment with a few different scalper-aversion techniques.

I think I'm going to plan for either Chicago or NOLA, in addition to Bonnaroo...

Well I am about to sign up for a membership as it seems this is the only way to ensure geting tickets. but my main question is - if i for over my $100 dollars, will i be guaranteed tickets to any show i want? I want Aug 3rd Madison Sq Garden - what if all the codes have been snapped up already by fan club members? I kind of think I am out $100 bucks. anyone know?

That's the chance, I think you have to take... I am not sure how many presale tix they have available for each show... might be 50, might be 500... but like in a public sale, you gotta be lucky!

Oh well then that's crap - $100 gets handed over but you may not even get tickets? WTF? I dont get it. Why wouldnt they tell you that pre-sale codes are already filled for certain dates?

My family is moving to Seattle soon, so I'm looking to get tickets there. They haven't posted anything about any Southern California dates yet. We'll see.

Relax, the details are in the HELP section of the new site. You can access it once you plunk down your $100.

Details as to how exactly it will work are in the HELP section:

How To Use The ThePoliceTour.com Ticket Pre-Sale System?:

To take advantage of the current ThePoliceTour.com Ticket Pre-sale, please follow these quick steps:

(1) Visit the following link: http://www.ThePoliceTour.com/tickets

(2) Find the show you want to go to and look under the column called 'FanClub Tickets'.

(3) If you see 'GET TICKETS' then there are still pre-sale tickets/passcodes for that event. Otherwise, it will state "ALLOTMENT GONE" which means there are no more presale tickets available.

(4) After you click 'GET TICKETS', you will be shown a page confirming the show you chose and you must read and agree to the terms of the Pre-Sale System on ThePoliceTour.com.

(5) After you click the checkbox to agree to these terms, you can continue to next step.

(6) If you are already logged in to ThePoliceTour.com, just click continue. Otherwise, you will see a login form so enter your username and password here, then click continue.

(7) The next page again confirms your selection. If it is correct and you want to obtain the ThePoliceTour.com passcode for this event, click continue.

(8) The next page provides you with the passcode and a link to a ticketing agent (ticketmaster or etix.com) where you will go to actually order the tickets using the Pre-Sale passcode.

This page also provides many details about the pre-sale so review it carefully.

You will also receive a confirmation email with details and your passcode.

(9) The ticket agent (ticketmaster or etix.com) will send you an order confirmation email after you successfully order your tickets.

IMORTANT NOTE:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

***As a PREMIUM member of ThePoliceTour.com you can purchase tickets for one show on the tour with a limit of up to 4 tickets. ***

If you buy less than the maximum limit of tickets, the remainder does not carry over to additional shows or transactions. Ticket quantities may vary based on availability. The reason for this ticket limit is so we can ensure more fans have access to presale tickets.

Also, many of thr ThePoliceTour.com member presales are facilitated by Ticketmaster. We highly recommend you create your Ticketmaster account, and sign in to it, before the tickets go on sale. This is to ensure that you will not find out at the last minute that you've forgotten your Ticketmaster password or need to set up a new account while you are trying to check out your order.

Please note: this Ticketmaster account is separate from your ThePoliceTour.com account and there is no charge to register.

If you don't already have an account with Ticketmaster or if you have forgotten your password, please visit the following link: https://www.ticketmaster.com/member

Has anyone actually gotten a presale code for any dates from TPT.com? Theoretically members will receive one in time for the presale tomorrow...

Surely they won't give *all* the presale tickets to the Best Buy program. And I can't imagine so many people will have slapped down 100 clams that there won't be anything left thru TPT.com.

But then, I've been wrong before. There are 740 new members over on the TPT.com message boards, if that helps any...

[Sorry folks, xpost with Kim's post above. Thanks Kim!]

But you have to wonder how much of an "allotment" they have for each show vs the demand... there's still an element of luck involved, $100 or not.

I understand that BestBuy is the sponsor- but I spent my $100 on the notion I would atleast secure tickets- and I still believe that. My show would be for MSG and I'm going to presume that I will be able to get them. Everyone stay patient and I think it will all work out because if it doesn't that's really going to suck bad.

Let's face it, this stuff will sell like hot cakes. I really believe that once the first two MSG dates sell out in seconds, they will add more dates. I'm wondering if the smattering of dates that are up there now are up there only to find out what the response will be, and once they figure that out the rest of the dates will be tweaked.

A lot of those new members were dumped into the system from Sting.com, so that number looks worse than it sounds. What I'd like to know is how many people dropped $100 since yesterday.

Very valid points, Kim...it'll be interesting to find out the answers.

Who knows, guys? Maybe this thing won't sell out in three seconds. I can imagine various scenarios, with the most common one being folks thinking "wait and read the reviews." It'll be interesting as well to see what happens when/if they start recording new records and are out promoting them.

Having, um, seen them myself (not to rub it in, just saying), I'm pretty sure the reviews for these shows will be excellent. But I would imagine there will be a reasonable shot to get tickets at these early dates, in particular (and I've been saying all along second tier dates - which at this point look like St. Louis, Tampa, and Columbus - will be much easier 'gets' than the L.A./NY/Boston/Chicago axis.)
