This past weekend, Conroy and I got to two darn good shows here in Philly.
First up was the Australian Pink Floyd Show at the Tower Theater, doing The Wall in its entirety (and the live concert version, just not copying the album).
It was pretty damned awesome. Totally recommend checking these guys out if you like Floyd and get the chance. The guy who "does" Roger is especially uncanny vocally. Their Gilmour is pretty good too even if he lacks that certain "ethereal" something that Dave's singing has always had.

Saturday night was the Bad Faerie Ball at the Trocadero. We both claimed our righs are Bad Faeries by stating that we were doing a bad job of dressing up as faeries. Three acts took to the stage that night; first up was Priscilla Hernandez, an "ethereal-gothic" singer/songwriter from Spain. Some of her stuff was pretty good, but some was a bit too heavy on the emo-goth side for my tastes. "I Steal The Leaves", which you can hear on her website, was one of my favorites from her set.

Second up was Trillian Green, who are FUCKING AMAZING. I think Conroy will agree that all nutters should check these guys out. A trio of flute, cello, and percussion, they sound unlike anything I can quite put my finger on except perhaps celtic-instrumental Jethro Tull. I'd actually like to hear Stewart compose something for them to play. Check out "Pan Parag" on their MySpace, I think you'll dig it:

Last up were Qntal, from Germany. More goth/electronica/dance, some of which was a little too atmospheric for nearly midnight after a long day at a convention - bad faeries were slipping off to sleep all around us on the balcony. But they did pick up the tempo for the end of the set. Their singer has a gorgeous voice and it was cool seeing them incorporate "string" instruments from the lute to a theremin into their music.
