It also makes you wonder what they must have in the vaults of A&M.

Wouldn't it be great if they dug into the vault and go the multi-track masters but cut a CD/DVD from the original master but without the voice track. That would be incredible. I'd buy it. What most Karaoke machines do is play one channel out of phase (OOPS) which cancels out the vocals. That's a cheap fake way to do it. I wouldn't pay even a penny for that. I want the real thing.

Krok, you're a legend, thanks heaps for all your work!

I was wondering - does the 5.1 mix method (or any other method) make it possible to mix out the drums/other instruments from a recording?

Just asking because I posted in another thread, but wanted to play drums along to one of their songs (reggatta de blanc) but haven't been able to locate any drum-less tracks of good enough quality.

Be great to get your advice if possible. But thanks muchly for these tracks again!

The 5.1 disc channels are only as good as the mix they used to *make* the 5.1 channels, and they usually have some instrument crossover per channel. True, you might be able to reduce the drums slightly, but any significant reduction would degrade the overall audio quality so much that it would make it not worthwhile.

One of the better tracks would be Don't Stand, since some of the channels on that are fairly isolated.

Now, since the RockBand tracks are truly separate channels per instrument, you'll have better luck with those.

Bumping another moldy oldie thread!

I whipped together some mp3s (yeah, I know...) of separated tracks from a certain video game. Props to 'femaleuser' for the full mogg!
