I played my first ever stint as a drummer, totally unplanned. I just played one song.

One (very fast) song in church. You may be thinking "oh, church music....snore, slow..boring..." But, NOT! We are very contemporary and the music reflects that. Very peppy, fast, and rockin.' Wasn't supposed to play, wasn't prepared to play, just on stage to "observe" so I could eventually replace one of the drummers. The dude talked me into it. The whole time we're on stage, he's like, "you want to play?" to which I politely decline "I've never played these songs before, and I've never played with anyone. I don't want to break into it in front of 200 people, are you joking???" He kept on and on. Finally at the end, he looks at me and says "ok, last song, people are starting to leave now, you play!"

I thought I would throw up, I had NEVER played either WITH anyone, except my drum teacher, or in front of anyone, except my family, who have no choice b/c they live with me. BUT, the dude jumped out of his seat, handed me the stix and coached me a bit, since it was a song I had NEVER played before...and in front of like 150 people....eeekkk

BUT all those months of lessons, practicing, etc. paid off. I was able to pull it off without shrewing up, to a song that I'd never played before.

It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!

Can't wait to do it again! :D
