I'm a die hard fan but a box set such as that does not interest me at all.

yep. unbelieveable that on a celebration of a bands' output; that it would be filled with remixes.
I can't agree with the unnecessary re-re-re-release of the synchronicity gig....POINTLESS!

i would like to hear stuff like "code box elvis" or "san franciso waitress" from the eberhard sessions, and maybe a couple of newly released live recordings.........

i think we'll have to look for the gigs to be good 'cos A&M are just going to try to milk the cash cow........ if they release the remixes as suggested that'll do nothing to strenthen the legacy.....

Hopefully the box set will be available on iTunes so all of us with the original box set can just pick and choose the tracks we don't already have...

If it was it'd either be a Partial Album or all the new stuff would be Album Only. That's how the jazz goes.
The BBC archives must have sessions and live stuff in them.

For example, I seem to remember they re-recorded "Spirits" for Top Of The Pops in 81 and it was more in line with the version on the Live! album.

I do hope the tracklisting above is wrong as, in my opinion, this proposed box set would be a shocking addition to the Police legacy.

Keep your fingers crossed.
I was thinking: what about the Peel Sessions? I think they recorded at least 3 songs and only one came out if I'm right (Can't Stand Losing You, on a 1988 compilation). What happened to the other tracks?

Yes, if confirmed, this tracklisting is absolutely ho-rri-ble!

do you remember the first 'message in a box' it was sold as a numbered limited edition. Yes they put a number on it.... but why is it still avalable everywhere?

It was again pure marketing ! they will come still the end of the days with such anoucement. Who is suposed to buy box 1, box2, box 3, etc...?? it will never end. You can do a billion of different remixes of everything... What a pity.

Following on from PhilippeC's post, I'm lucky enough to have a copy of the 1993 book "In Session Tonight" which details most of the BBC Radio sessions up to that date.

Apparently the Police did 3 sessions for the BBC - albeit with duplications.

They were :-

24/10/78 (for Kid Jensen) Can't Stand Losing You * / Hole In My Life / Truth Hits Everybody / Next To You

29/1/79 (for Andy Peebles) So Lonely / Roxanne / Truth Hits Everybody / Next To You

30/7/79 (for John Peel RIP) The Bed's Too Big Without You / Message In A Bottle / Next To You / Can't Stand Losing You ("the bit we left out")

The only released track out of that lot is the one marked * above.

Let's hope A&M sort out a deal with Auntie Beeb!

Hope this helps.

I really couldn't care less about remixes. Different unreleased versions, yes, but not remixes. I'm more excited about DVDs with new unseen extras. An american friend of mine says he has a version of Around The World with extra Stewart footage - I'd love to see that.

Many thanks for the update, Xyzman.

Just one question: I have this LP celebrating the anniversary of the Peel Sessions released in 1988, featuring a complete version of Can't Stand Losing You (with a larsen at the beginning)... So this should be the one recorded for Kid Jensen, and not for John Peel (RIP)?

That is the information I have got, PhilippeC.

The BBC were rather prone to call everything a Peel session during the 80's so that could be where the confusion comes from.

It would be good to hear those tracks along with any others in the BBC archive.

Are there any other organisations that would have this sort of material? Westwood One, King Biscuit Flower Hour are two I can think of but are there any others?

Last past year.. I expect all those broadcasted POLICE videos from around the world reunited in a DVD!

THE POLICE have broadcasted clips from Japan, France (Spirits in the material world), USA ( red versions of Roxanne & Cant stand losing you, Every breath you take), from UK (Bed's too big) Germany ( De do do do, It's all right for you), Australia, etc... I mean a DVD similar than "Family Jewels" of AC/DC 8)

If that is the listing for the new box set, it really IS disappointing.

The only track I want a better copy of is Truth Hits Everybody (if it's the '83 remix), because I really like it and only have a crappy copy. But I'm sure it'll be circulating after the box comes out and I'm not gonna pay $50+ just for that one song.

And all those Voices remixes by other people, and we can't have Stewart's Derangements? I don't get it.

The Peel Sessions *would* be nice, but they are widely circulated already among traders so it wouldn't really be anything new. :?

I'll save my money (which I'm sure I'll need) for concert tickets.

I would like to obtain "When the world is runing down" (Different gear vs The Police) but....I think this detailed track list of the forthcoming "POLICE BOX II" isn't the definitive set... first it shows at Stingus ( I copied from it) and then they deleted so perhaps expected a new one with the inclusion of newest material of THE POLICE
