Will Sting mention it when he goes on tour starting 2/18?

Just thinking. I'm sure they MUST plan to announce the news before Sting goes back on tour starting on 2/18. But what if they don't? What will he say to the audiences? You know the fans are going to want to hear something about it.

I wonder if the possibility of the Police going on tour during the summer would stop people from going to see Sting solo, especially since we are guessing it'll probably cost an arm and a leg to get decent seats for the Police tour, especially if we have to travel to go see them. Maybe they would wait until after Sting's tour to announce the dates?

Good question, conroy. So, then that makes my question even more prevalent. You know someone in the audience of these upcoming shows is going to do a shout out asking about the reunion, so I wonder what he will say. If I were attending, I think I would have to go old school and break out a banner to wave in the crowd.

I'd say you're probably right, except...

1. By this point people going to those shows surely have bought their tickets already (weren't most of the lute shows pretty small theaters? I'd expect they're long since sold out...)

2. Those going to the lute shows are, I'd guess, for the most part Sting die-hards who'd go to the shows no matter what. I don't think many casual fans are gonna be running out to the lute concerts.

Hey Gio, can you give us any clues as to how close (or far) we are from an announcement?

I live in fear that the one day I don't wake up in time to check before work the tour is announced and tickets immediately go on sale.

Not likely, I know, but that would be my nightmare.

I'm with you, lol. I can't always check my regular haunts every day, but now I'm afraid I'll miss something.

They won't sell the tickets the same say a tour is announced. But, I know how you feel.

I fI am not mistaken, last Wednesday Gio said we had to wait 'a little more than a week.' Dive then recognized Feb 1 as the day the Bonaroo lineup will be announced. So I think all of that together tells me Feb 1 will be the big day.

I keep hearing sources close to the band saying we won't hear anything until after the Grammy's a la the Simon & Garfunkel marketing strategy.

Hey all, I already posted this, but I got an email this week saying the Bonnaroo lineup will be announced Feb. 12 - nearly two weeks later than it was put out last year, and two days after the Grammys.

That said, you can take whatever Gio says to the bank, and you notice he just said WE would be the first to know!!!!! So hopefully that doesn't mean the Sting.com people will get first dibs on everything. I do think MJ is right and that the announcement will be on or around 2/1/07.

Police-ologists: Is that date somehow relevant?
