If (in the totally hypothetical sense) there happens to be a reunion tour, is there a way where we (as your loyal website followers) can get access to tickets first hand (or at least before all the ticket scalping brokers have their way with the best seats)? I just hope careful consideration will (would)be given to the way they are (would be) distributed (again, hypothetically).

I actually thought of a proper way to distribute your tickets (If there ever were a tour, that is). Pick your favorite charity and make the tickets only available on their website, Higher donations get you better seats, etc. I for one would feel great about contributing to a great cause and the awesome bonus of seeing the three amigos at it again.

Another thing. Would there be any openings for crew or personal assistants? Please let me know before I sign my new contract to teach high school band another year! :)

I'm sure we wouldn't be the only website wanting to get first dibs at tickets as I'm sure the sting.com community, which (in number but not in spirit) is much larger, will be weighing in on this, too.

First of all, do we even have an official Police website? I mean, they are going to need something official when this reunion is announced, aren't they? What do you think? Is Sting.com going to try to represent for them because everyone thinks it's "Sting's band"?

I just hope the Sting.com folks don't get some special first dibs.

I hate the idea of having to buy into a "club" (and isn't it something like $50?!) just for the supposed purpose of getting special dibs on tickets that IMO should be available to all.

Also this word of advice: if/when Police tix do go on sale, if it's through a service like Ticketmaster, be wary of sponsored "pre-sales" as well. Their so-called special "pre-sale" seats are often lousy and better ones are almost always available at the start of the regular sale. But of course, these days all the most prime seats are held for "auction" prices

The best trick I've learned for getting good seats for a show is waiting until a few days right before a show...suddenly that "sold-out" concert may not be once they've actually figured out how big the stage is and can free up previously un-sold seats on the sides right by where the stage is. I've gotten some killer seats that way...of course, luck depending.

Yes, I certainly agree, Mrs. Gradenko. Very much so.

And Sockii, you are sooo right about the presale seat being the suckiest!!! I went to see Foo Fighters in Washington D.C. in Sept. and my presale tickets were all the way in the back!!! My friend bought tickets the morning the regular ticket sale started and got second row seats!!!!!

I would take your advise on the waiting until just before the show, but I would be a wreck in the process. The stress of wondering if tickets will all of a sudden free up would just kill me. I would probably do that for something less important than a Police reunion. I'm sure you can relate.

What I tend to do if it's a show I desperately have to see, is buy whatever ticket I can when they first go on sale, and then wait and see if I can get a better seat at the last minute. I can usually find someone to take my older 'bad' ticket via Craigslist or a band's messageboard. (And I advise against those ticketfast print-at-home tickets as well. Even if they gouge you with fees on "by mail" tickets, I've had hassles reselling ticketfast tickets because they are illegally reprinted and duplicated so often...)

I can't help wondering if it's a little...what's the word...premature? To be after Stew about tickets before a tour is even announced, you know?

We don't have any details AT ALL. For all we know, they're going to play a hundred dates at smaller venues across the country and give away tickets to various fans via lottery or something.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to come down on anyone...but I do feel confident that if there's any way for Stewart to take care of this at all, a.) he's already thought about it, and b.) we'll find out about it when the time is right. I mean, the man posts on this website himself, right? And we all heard the really sweet, human comments he made on the soundtrack to ES:TPIO about that girl that was trying to get in to see them...nearly everyone here who's met him reports he's a great guy...I just can't imagine this hasn't at least crossed SC's mind. And Andy's, for that matter - it's not like we're not his fans too, but he doesn't make it all easy for us by putting up a message board on his website. :)

However, we all know how big record companies and promoters work...it could be that S & A can't accommodate everyone they'd like to. So if it comes down to it and we're all on our own when it comes to getting tickets, we do have this forum, and presumably there'll be some list of dates put forward. I would STRONGLY recommend we all keep our email addresses up to date in case we have to coordinate, say, trying to buy tickets together for a certain venue or city.

Only thing is, once this is announced we'll probably get A LOT of new people trying to get ticket info, so be aware anything you post here at that point may as well be public. (Well, hell, it's already public now, but you know what I mean. ;))

I've heard one good way to game the Ticketmaster system is to get together...say we're trying to get five tickets to, oh, Toronto: Two of us work the 800 number while the other three try the website. If we're willing to really work together as a group, we can organize volunteers in other cities to also try the 800 numbers and websites. Heck, I'll volunteer to help try to get tickets for someone on the other side of the country (or another continent) if s/he'll do it for me! Especially for those of us "regulars" on the forum. In a heartbeat. We'll just have to stay on top of what dates tickets go on sale for each city.
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

He said "hypothetically speaking", Dive. Come on, let us just think out loud. What else have we got to do while we wait?

Dive I dig what you're saying. No biggie. I do like your ideas on working in a group to do the different angles for the seats.

BTW..waiting to the last minute works every now and then. For Van Halen's 5150 tour in 1986 I bought one ticket the day of and was right on the side of the stage next to Eddie. During "Eruption" he threw his pick at me and I caught it! Still have it framed. Speaking of, VH will be the other summer concert ticket I purchase if Eddie can stick it out with Diamond Dave for the summer tour. That's the word on the street anyway. I never did see 'em back in the day with Dave. Maybe Edward can keep his flying ego down for a few shows so the world can benefit and rock out to the original VH (minus michael anthony of course, ahh who cares?).

Stew...Hypothetically once again....

We want Stew's "fly on the wall" report from let's see....some place hypothetical....how about Vancouver?

Just a few words like....

"Stew play good. Sting do yoga, Andy still the funniest. It is working out well."

C'mon and just give us animals a taste!

Is it true that they're not allowed to throw anything (even picks) off the stage anymore, for rear or it hitting someones eye (something like that)and them getting sued?

If it will ever happen again, it will probably be like it was for the Reunion Tour; it's so globalised now that it would work exactly as they did in 2007 and 2008. The Police website would work as a main web for the band.
I would work as Stewart web coordinating the news accordingly to The Police web as it happened in 2007, when I was 'guided' by Sting management in NYC; everything concerning tickets sales and pre-sales as well as front row tickets auctions for charity were all announced by The Police . com followed by Sting.com and SC.net

I guess most of the fans would love to have back the OUTLANDOS way of dealing with tickets, as they did with The Police tour back in the Eighties as well and every Sting tour until 2003, when there was a closer contact with the fans.
Times have changed my friends...

But anyway, do not forget what we did for the last show in NYC...

I don't think any of the old timers will ever forget that, Gio (and STEWART). That was a truly amazing outpouring of generosity like I've never seen from another artist before. And a large part of why I will forever be a SC fan.

But I won't forget that there was a lot of shenanigans with the tour and ticketing which, right from the start, was biased toward Sting.com members and how that seemed to carry through things until objections were (loudly) raised (and I'm never one to not make loud objections)! It's just fun to look back on where we all were five years ago, when rumors of so many years were just starting to suggest something more was finally afoot.
