Other Concerts

Postby Divemistress of the Dark on 08 Jul 2008 14:32

He's getting ready to play a free show in Quebec...tempting...mighty tempting...except the way my luck has been running, ALL the other shows I want to see this summer conflict with already-planned out-of-town Police concert trips...

(Edit: Just checked - sure enough, July 20, the night before Red Rocks 1. Sigh.)

I'm not at all sure it wouldn't just bum me out to see him play live, though...talk about your giant Lennon-shaped hole. Hard to believe he's been gone 28 years.

Dive,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and birthday wishes for Mr. Starkey. I have seen him a couple of time and really loved the show.
We absolutely <3 Ringo around here--George was always my fave Beatle and Ringo PapaCat's but we both adore him absolutely. I think Don't Pass Me By has to be one of my fav Beatle tunes <grin> Glad it was a great show!!
Gina, I am so with you on rankings. As the years have gone by, I love George's music more and more. All Things Must Pass is the best solo Beatle album ever.

His posthumous one, Brainwashed, is really good too, even though it was ignored when it came out and forgotten. You should check it out if you haven't already.

This is one of the best versions of All Things Must Pass I have ever heard/scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4laOQ4IzaE

I have watched this DVD over and over, I love it so much. I really miss George a lot. :(
The tribute concert with so many awesome musicians giving 110% and being spot on shows what a great person and musician George was. To see Paul and Ringo on stage, and Dhani and Eric Clapton, and who knew it would be one of the last performances of Billy Preston, and so many more.
Have we got touchdown

Kiki, Lady Starblade & I saw Fiction Plane last night in St. Louis. The band was very good. We had front row seats...on the lawn. We were jumping around, dancing & enjoying the music. Joe spotted us & pointed near the end. Woo hoo. It was an enjoyable night. We met up with Dive & her husband for dinner on Friday night which was fun. Here are some pics from my camera. There are a few photos which were text messages rolling along the bottom of the video screen. http://www.flickr.com/photos/17678487@N ... 148146227/

And a big MWAH to the Louisville/Indy axis! Glad to see you got home OK in that awful rainstorm...was worried about you driving so late.

Somehow I forgot to take photos during dinner...d'oh!

(Will post some from Lebowskifest in the next day or two, although there are already some up at www.lebowskifest.com I think...)

OMG, the texting is hilarious. I guess there must be some policing (pun intended) of what they say. If I ever get the chance, it'll say "Ticketmaster Can Suck My Socks!".

Glad to hear you ladies had a great time and got some FP lovin'

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH! Ticketmaster and LiveNation, how do I hate thee; let me count the ways.

First, they do the old bait and switch with seat location. Now I've been stung by a bait and switch with artists!

Some of you know that I reluctantly bought tickets for Avril Lavigne at Saratoga the night after the Police show. I became increasingly loath to do so when I discovered that the Jonas Brothers would be the support group. I bit the maternal bullet, however, and got the tickets for the kiddies' sake. I swear when I first looked into the tickets, they were advertised as Avril Lavigne & The Jonas Brothers. I got the tickets in the mail yesterday. They are for The Jonas Brothers. When I checked the ticketmaster website the concert has become The Jonas Brothers & Avril Lavigne. Grrrrreat. I bet Ms. Lavigne is none too pleased either. Who wants to watch a pissed off young diva open for three manufactured pop stars who she clearly thinks she's better than?

I own four Jonas Brother concert tickets now. Anyone with skates is welcome to join me and Satan as we do a few rounds of the now frozen Hades Pond.

Sorry, LL!! I know nothing about either act, but you don't seem to like the JB too much... sharpen your blades and suck it up for the kiddies! Your fun is just around the corner... :D

If you have to see a young diva, I think it might be more interesting to see her pissed off. Maybe it's just me.
