What's his last name? You can't get friends with him without knowing his last name.

Oh Right! Thanks.

My beef isn't against stingus or people that love Sting (I have been a huge Sting fan for years), it's against Sting himself. Yep, I DO blame a lot of things on Sting--especially as of late. I can probably count on one hand the times that Andy or Stewart vetoed something related to the Police. It's not been Stewart or Andy that have resisted any kind of a reunion for 20 odd years. It's not Stewart or Andy that grumbled about the Rock Hall of Fame induction. And I'm sure the scales tip more to Gordo's side as to why they're calling it quits for good after things SEEMED to be going so well. Things always seem to be "up to Sting"-- this reunion is complete proof of that. I trust what Dietmar said about who in fact vetoed the project, so therefore, Sting is still a Geordie twat. With a lute up his ass.

Exactly. There's a difference.

That's the problem I have with what I go on in certain forums. What I see here on sc.net is a lot of people who may have issues with Sting, NOT his fans.

We should all be free to praise, and criticize, the band and band members without having it turned into "well that person isn't a reliable source because he/she is a nutter". Or that a certain group of fans is somehow superior people because of who they are a fan OF. There's a difference between criticizing an artist and criticizing fans of said artist. I don't see a lot of criticism of Sting FANS here. Yet why is it when I go elsewhere all I seem to see is a lot of sneering at and criticism of Stewart FANS?

That's what gets under my skin. Talk all you want about Stewart elsewhere, just leave making the judgment calls about the nutters out of it. And then we'll do the same.

I don't disagree with you. People can hate Sting all they want. But some of us seem to understand his logic more than others. He is bipolar you
know.. I think Stewart is ready to thow in the towel on this tour as well. He and Sting are still at odds on certaiin things. And they ALL do have their own lives and wives to get back to. Stewart will write the greatest Movie music ever and Andy will do a great jazz album. So I have no complaints about them at their age getting back to their lives. I am grateful for this tour and that I got to see them at least once. But some of us love Sting and are used to his eccentricity and expect it. People think that some people are way to critical of Sting and blame him for everything. And they seem to be critical of those who love him as well. All 3 Policeman have STRONG personalities and egos and are extremely talented individuals. As far as Gerts documentary is concerned start to lobby via Gert to get this documentary on the way. And Gerts full name is:

Thank you for the info on Gert!
Some considerations:
Stingo is not bipolar (the new black?), he looks more chronically depressed (takes one to know one). The truth is that no one of us (or them) will be here (there) without the other.
The chemistry is the magic of a band.
When the band ends, each one of the musicians brings that special spark with them. Some have a taste for what's popular, some do WTF inspires them regardless of the money it will make.
The Police were a Trinity and a Unity.
So I don't get why one is/must be more important than the other and dictate everything this way. Because each brings that peculiar element, that magic sprinkle. They were a Unit. A litigious unit, but a unit and no one - NO ONE - has had the same success on his own or moved legions of crowds like the Unity of the Trinity.

I don't understand his behavior (does anybody?) but recognize his value and the fact that the band needs him (as he needs the band).

So the Beatles could not do it again (other things came into play, that luckily didn't happen to the Police). The Police did it again.
I wonder why the fans cannot accept this and go their separate ways like before. You can love one, two, three of them: it's really like one part of the Unity.

Come on, let's get along. Regardless.

We all had hope especially of an UNPLUGGED performance. I am more disappointed about that than anything.

Me too. Cuz that had the promise of something "different." I especially was jazzed when I heard the rumor that STEWART was going to be on guitar. FUCK.

He is actually bipolar and thats why he is so eccentric. But thats's part of the reason some of us love him. He may surprise us yet. But I agree let them go do what they gotta do without The Police. Stewart and Andy aren't used to such a long amount of touring. I am sure they want to get back home and back to normal. But we will see what happens in the longrun. There may be future gigs just for special events. We can only hope. I am looking forward to another Andy photography book. Stewart should write a book about his whole tour. I am sure he has a lot to say.

Re-read the more recent posts (particularly the one by Dietmar). No grounds for "Yippee." Sting shot down the project.
