Police Walking Tour of London

Police Walking Tour of London

Postby Dallas on 12 Jan 2007 18:59

I asked this question on a different thread, but thought it might be a good idea to ask it seperately.

If someone created a "Walking Tour of London" that went by locales important to the Police collectively and as individuals... what stops should be on this tour????

Sting had a flar with Frances in Bayswater and I am not sure where Andy lived with Kate (but I could look that up in One Train Later).

I think the are numerous pubs they played at... one that comes to mind is the Hope and Anchor.

what about the Virign offices on Portebello Road.

Perhaps Miles office.

You guys know better than me.. especially those that live in London.

...then "Surrey Sound Studios"... when THE POLICE recorded "Outlando's D'Amour" and "Regatta de blanc"... if you decided to tour outside London following THE POLICE footsteps take a fly to Hilversum - Holland to the studio when they recorded "Zenyatta Mondatta"... don't forget to take there a ride to the artisan shop that made "Brian's", Sting electric double bass... and finally if you have the appropiate amount of money go to "Air Studios" at Monserrat Caribean Island the place who our Fab3Blonds recorded "Ghost in the Machine" and "Synchronicity".. I don't recommend you followed the "Second War World Tour" (Police around the world tour - five continents) perhaps your credit card could be exploted in the first stop as a bomb away!

Bon Voyage - A fan in a suitcase!

Air Studios

I guess the Air Studios are not there anymore after the big earthquake (or something else that destroyed almost everything in the island); Sting did a benefit concert for Montserrat some years ago.

Yeah I know It... also exist an album for support Montserrat with Paul Mac Cartney, Sting, Phil Collins and other rock stars... but in case of a tour any ruin is interesting to visit... not like a Pompeya one but perhaps like Roman Coliseumm or Macchu Pichu Lost City of The Incas

I've often thought how cool that would be. I live and work in London and whenever I drive through Barnes or Shepherds Bush or Fulham or any of the other places the guys lived at one time or another I always wonder which building it might have been. I've been to a gig at the Hope & Anchor and it's really REALLy small - a little basement place. I don't think Surrey Sound studios are there anymore. My band rehearse at a place called tweeters in Leatherhead and I reckon the guy who runs it would know. He's called Nigel too coincidentally! Whenever I'm driving back into London from Leatherhead (which I do a lot, especially as I used to work out there) I imagine the 3 blonde ones doing the same journey...

Also, I always keep my eyes out for old Police graffiti in the back streets but so far I haven't spotted any. A tour could also include a ride on the tube line where Andy bumped into Stew for that fateful meeting. I'm sure Stew would help us out with some of the unknown details.
