Want to hear how Nancy and Trevor do at JB.

REM was supposed to play at my college waaaaaay baack in the day. But the school pulled out because the shits didn't want the field house floor messed up. Yeah, like we'd misbehave or something

Miss SuperKitty is getting snapped at all the music events these days.

Amazing, amazing, amazing night!!

The amphitheater was evacuated toward the end of The National's set when the skies opened up to a torrential downpour, lightening and a HUGE crack of thunder that rocked the stadium. I really thought the building had been hit! (Turned out that another building in the area HAD been struck.) We were all told to leave immediately, go to our cars and listen to a local radio station for news on when/if the show would resume. Problem is, getting to our cars meant going back out into the downpour, so pretty much everyone huddled under the venue's few covered areas.

After about an hour, they herded us back into our seats, despite the fact it was still pouring. R.E.M. took the stage and opened their set with an impromptu cover of "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" And then Michael Stipe told us we all looked like a room full of garbage bags (lots of make-shift rain gear...we were a motley crew!) Meanwhile the rain continued and crew members came out and mopped up the stage after every song or two!

I have more to say...but if I don't get some sleep, I'm gonna pass out!

Just this: Trevor was an incredible trooper and is ECSTATIC that Stipe gave him (and some others) an Obama t-shirt, and then asked him how many more years it would be 'til he's able to vote.

Hey Gina! I got your text right before we were booted out, at which point, well...let's just say conditions prevented me from responding! I'm still just amazed this morning by the whole night! Even in the pouring rain, there was not one ounce of energy held back in their two-hour performance...in fact, I would say they gave it even a little extra! The only concession Stipe made, and I think it was more out of sympathy for the soaked-to-the-bone audience than anything else, was to eliminate the break before the encore. After the last song in the main set, he stopped, looked out into the audience and said "OK, we're gonna do the encore now, alright? Or if you want we can leave the stage for a few minutes and then come back...but how 'bout we just pretend that part just happened." It was pretty cool.

I don't think I will ever forget this night...and I am already contemplating how I can get to another one of their shows! Another addiction is born!

Let me get this straight. trevor's first gig. biblical weather. he has a chat with Mr Stipe. AND has the good sense to be over the moon about it.

Oh my land Nancy. Apologies to Spec A and many others with fantastic tales of wonderful gig related experiences, but for me, that tops all.

Ah well - it would be a boring world if we all thought the same way.

Antoni, did you get tickets for tom waits?! wow. Catalonia seems like a good place to be for music right now.

You were on my mind instantly when this happened, Kate. Knew you'd appreciate it was a "really" moment (possibly even more than Trevor)! I've been reliving this incredible night all day long as bits and pieces pop into my head. One review I read of the show said it became "instantly clear that this was going to be a show fans brag about for decades to come." It certainly had that feeling , and I am so glad I got to be there!

Honestly, this made such an impression on me that I risk going on and on about it and boring everyone here to tears. Simply amazing!

Nancy. Please go on and bore us all to tears, when you have an hour or seven to spare ;-)

I hope trevor appreciates what an awesomely cool mom he has.

A really moment! Ha!

Guess I can come out of the closet, so to speak...met Stipe myself as part of the 'Vote for Change' tour in '04. He was so humble and sincere when thanking the staff and volunteers working for the campaign, it was awesome.

Glad to hear T got a little taste! And that you all had a blast! I can't believe how good those guys still are, after all these years.
