Craig is that last post on this subject or last post on sc.net.

I hope it is the former not the latter, thanks for all the information you have posted to keep us in the loop.

i doubt very much this is from 2007. listen to the bass (pick, a little chorus effect), and listen to the quality of sting's voice.... come awwwn doctor craig, enlighten us....
I agree with this. I don't think that's Sting's 07 voice.

Also the "fucking incredible"? I think Stewart is definitely talking about whatever they were smoking, not what they had played.

I can't ascertain from Craig's post whether the person who is in the shit is in it because they are in shit from "the man" ie, the management/band/record company, or they are in the shit from the "elite traders".

I think he means that the recording comes from a session where they tried to make a "reagge" version of Truth...

anyway, I've checked my boots collection, they played a slow version of Truth from middle december '79 till the end of january '80 (except Hamburg Markthalle 11/01/80 where it was performed as usual).

in my opinion the strange version post here sound very similar with this one:

http://www.mediafire.com/?rmvw2fex00f

it came from an FM recording of Cleveland 21/01/80.

and I don't know if anyone else notice it but the file posted by JMRL (thanks for it) have a "pitch" problem... if you check it is in G# (the first chord is a Cm) exactly as the Cleveland '80 recording.

that's it!

Craig,

I really hope this is not your last post on sc.net. I understand that you are upset. Your hard work and dedication is still very much appreciated. I am sorry, that I had a taste of the candy. I just couldn’t resist. But now that I had a taste of it, I am even more looking forward to your biography. And I absolutely don’t want to miss Stewart and Bono sing together.

This has nothing to do with the box set, even though the biography will explain this session in detail. Plus this has also landed someone in the shit.

All the best

Craig
I also hope that this is not your last post here. Your insight has been invaluable.

While I too can get caught up in being a fan and wanting to get a hold of obscure tracks like this, we should all be mindful that satisfying our curiosity as fans should not come at the price of someone losing their job or even just getting in trouble. Even if the track is not going to be officially released, I suspect that The Boys may have REALLLLLLLY not wanted this to be heard by others. I think we should respect this. And by getting someone on the inside in trouble, we may have eliminated a source of future recording that They Boys (or The Machine) may not have been as upset about surfacing.

Sorry for the newb type question but other than knowing Craig as the dude in the pink stripe sweater......why is he choked, what are his connections, and what's the story on the biography?

A little bit of background needed so I can go "oh".
