Le Drapeau vert: the story and NOW the board game!

Postby luddite lady on 31 May 2008 19:00

Hey Kimmy! Welcome back. You were down there to see a local (London) group with that yummy looking lead singer, right? I forget the name of the band, but I remember the singer is très beau. How were they? Too bad that you couldn't stick around there a few more days. I hear another little band that you like will be playing just up the railway line from Monte Carlo in a few days. And the baguettes will be flying for that show for sure!

I gotta go be a Mom right now. Yes, Dancerina is screaming "Muuuuum! We're gonna be late for dance!" as I'm typing. I'll update y'all on my students' reaction to the story later today.

Here we go kiddies! The last chapter of Le Drapeau vert. It's kind of long but I couldn't find a way to divide in two. My students and I are still working our way through it. I'll report on their reaction maybe tomorrow. I do intend to do a little epilogue, too, in which I explain my summer concert plans. The kids need to review the future tense!

English to follow shortly.

Madame a squeeé. (OK. I just added that sentence now for you guys)
Puis, Madame a pointé vers Stewart.

The Green Flag Part IV
A Flag and a Hat

The Police came on stage and the concert started. Madame was able to clearly see the three musicians there. They were very close to her. Madame sang, danced and waved the flag. She and her friends were so happy.
After the second song, Sting introduced the members of the band. When he introduced Stewart, the drummer smiled and pointed directly at Madame and the flag.
She thought, "Wow! He saw the flag right away!"
Then Madame pointed at Stewart. He laughed and waved.
The band played very well and the fans danced and sang all night. Stewart looked at the flag and smiled and pointed frequently during the concert.
During a break between two songs Betsy showed a hat to Madame. She made this hat herself and it looked like an old funny hat belonging to Andy Summers, the guitarist. It was a blue cap with red wings. Andy often wore this unique hat at concerts in the 80's. He liked it a lot. Unfortunately, a long time ago, the guitarist lost his hat during a tour. Betsy made this new hat because she wanted to give it to Andy at the show. Several times she tried to show the hat to Andy, but he didn't see.
Near the end of the concert, Andy went to the edge of the stage and he looked at Madame and the flag. He played guitar and at the same time he spoke to Madame.
"Where's my flag?" he asked jealously.
Madame laughed but she did not answer. Betsy heard Andy's question. So, she showed the hat and said, " You don't have a flag. But here's your hat!" Andy saw the cap and he was very surprised.
"Do you want the hat?" asked Betsy.
"Yes! Yes!" he said.
Betsy threw the hat on the stage. Andy took it and he put the hat on his head. He laughed loudly. When Sting and Stewart saw Andy with his old lost hat, they were surpised and they laughed, too. Andy continued to wear the hat during the rest of the concert. He was very happy.
The Police played the last song of the concert. The audience applauded a lot. Stewart stood up behind his drumkit and pointed at Madame with two hands. Then the three musicians went to the edge of the stage for the final bow. Stewart looked at Madame and her friends. He gently threw his stick to Betsy. He said, "Thanks for Andy's hat!"
Betsy caught the stick and jumped for joy. Andy, Stewart and Sting took a big bow. Then, Stewart stared at Madame and the green flag. He pointed at her for a long time while he slowly left the stage. What an unforgettable experience!

dang, I just now saw this thread. Very very cool.

did Stew really say thank you for Andy's hat? Or was that more "artistic license"? lol.

Thanks for noticing it. I posted the last chapter just a few hours before the whole crazy Aug 7 MSG announcement stuff. It was understandably buried by more pressing concerns. Thanks, bella, for digging it out of the pile. Life in Le Drapeau vert land is so much simpler. Madame says I want to go to a concert. She buys a ticket and goes. Wouldn't it be nice if things really worked that way instead of all this strategizing that we have to do?

You're right. There was a fair bit of artistic license in the last installment. Stewart never said any direct thank you, but PR was pretty sure that he threw her the stick as a token of thanks. The long, lingering stare and point at the end totally happened though. Oh là là! Bless smudge's heart! She even captured it on video, along with the stick throw.

Oh yes. I know all the details of the hat and the flag and YOUR flag point back to Stew and the rest. It was just that thank you from Stew that sounded DREAM-like. lol.

Now that the pre-sale insanity is over, I thought I'd post the final bit of Le Drapeau vert. I posted Part IV just a couple of hours before the last show anouncement, so some of you may have missed it. My students will be reading or rather conjugating this tomorrow and then their final assignment is to write a short story about what they think will happen at the last show. I'll share some of the funny stuff my kids have been saying in the Madame was so stewpid thread.
Here we go. The English to follow, comme d'habitude.

The Green Flag
Epilogue

The Police tour is going to end this summer. The last concert is going to take place at Madison Square Gardens in New York on August 7, 2008. The concert is going to be televised. Lots of fans are going to go there to watch this show. They are going to come from Canada, everywhere in the United States, from Europe and even from South America and from Australia. Madame is going to attend this concert too. She is going to meet Nancyrose, Kellie, Kate and Betsy there. There are going to be many more fans there that Madame knows from the Internet. At this last concert Kellie is going to give the flag to Stewart. Probably, he is going to keep the flag at his house in California. It's weird. Madame does not have Stewart Copeland's autograph, but at the end of the tour, Stewart is going to have Madame's autograph and the autographs of many other fans on the back of his flag.
You must come back to our school to visit in the fall. You can look for Madame after school. She is going to show photos and tell about her new adventures at the last concert in New York. Have fun this summer! You know that Madame is going to have a lot of fun, too.

That's really nice, llady.

I'm going to refrain from mentioning again how very bizarre this all is from this end.
