I seriously doubt it's true, but I can still hope.

I'd rather see Stewart work on and release his next film to be honest.

...from a marketing point of view, Everyone Stares could have been some sort of warm up ...in other words... :D just testing the water... before they DIVE IN!!!

I was lucky enough to see them in concert twice.. however!... I´d love to see them play one more time!!

so guys.... water seems to be pretty warm!!.. just put on those swimming suits..and let`s rock n' roll!!!

About the thread, that's another clue Andy lent on the space:

Andy Summers, guitarist with The Police, has talked about the possibility of a reunion on the web.

In a recent podcast for Culturecatch, he has said that there have been rumblings about a band reunion, over 20 years after they split.

He says of the mooted reunion: “There are always rumblings, kind of like this ongoing tremor.”

Well, there's always some guy who knows a guy who says this or that...although here in Nashville, sometimes the industry gossip does turn out to be true.

That said, I'll believe it when I see it. If it's going to happen, I feel fairly sure that we'll be among the first to know, and we can get all goofy and jump up and down and scream, and start making plans for who's going to attend which show...which is fun to consider.

I will buy a plane ticket wherever I need to, to see such a show, should it come to pass. But then, I'd also buy a ticket to see Gizmo, and I'd love to hear more Klark Kent output or a new Oysterhead record, so whatever happens is fine with me.

(Only thing is, can you imagine the total zoo that a Police reunion show would be? I don't blame the guys for this, but tickets would likely be $$$$, and they'd play arenas where you probably couldn't get a very good seat, since scalpers and industry insiders have the Ticketmaster system gamed...I'm pretty allergic to arena shows, being spoiled by seeing bands like the Pretenders, Wilco and the Pixies play the 3000-seat Ryman Auditorium all the time...:? )

Update: Nicole just posted this at Backstage...Stewart says no way, no how, and in his usually hilariously eloquent way:

http://www.uncut.co.uk/music/the_police/interviews/9139

(This is another really good interview, nearly as good as the Metro one. Stewart's started being really open in the press lately...I'm enjoying it muchly.

Although I don't agree his playing with the Doors was a 'bad career move,' unless he's thinking of the mutual lawsuits that ended the entire enterprise. No shame in working with the incomparable Ray Manzarek. Too bad things didn't work out.)

After reading what Stewart said in the Uncut piece, I'm ready to put the nail in the coffin and just let. it. go.

As much as part of me might like to see it happen? Honestly, I'd probably be HAPPIER to have a chance to see Andy again in an intimate venue like Birdland or the Knitting Factory, where I got to sit 5 feet away from him and watch him work his magic. All for about a tenth of what I'm sure a ticket would cost to a huge arena reunion show, where only the poeple willing to pay scalpers rediculous prices would get the good seats anyway.

And of course ditto for Stewart. I'm keeping my fingers more crossed for another Oysterhead tour or a chance to see Gizmo (either in the States or in Italy) next year than anything Police-related.

Me, too. It just wouldn't be the same, unless the guys got together and wrote new material, which (let's face it) isn't going to happen.

I can't really see Stewart or Andy taking direction from Sting, and I would think he'd know better than to try that again - which may be the real reason why all the guys know this just wouldn't work out.

I'd really like to get a chance to see Andy play solo, and I'll do whatever I have to do to see Oysterhead again. That show was one of my real highlights of '06.

Snatched this from the link section http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/the_police/news/9010

>>I’d love to do it<<
Ahh love to hear that.

>>Are reformations pointless?<<
If it shuts us up, of coarse not!

>>because I figured if he failed, we’d never see him until he succeeded<<
Damn now we have to wait until he puts out a good album.

>>Would we consider reforming The Police with a different frontman? That would be too weird. <<
Yes it would. But who needs a front man?

>>We keep in touch via email at about the same rate I would with a sibling.<<

>>It was years since I’d talked to a plumber or driven my own car and this weird,<<
Britney Spears couldn't figure out how to fill up her porshe.

But if I was rich, damn I'd have a buttler and everything... would effing sweet!

I think that Stewart article was him giving Sting backhanded compliments. He basically said Sting was not a team player and that if the Police did a tour it would totally eclipse anything Sting put out in the future.

I think he's trying to bait Sting into reconsidering. I really do.

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. 8)

Today I have a bad dream... I don't want to mentioned it... but I think 2007 is a big excuse to see THE POLICE reunite again... I mixed three clues abou it...

1) August 2007 - 30th anniversary of Andy, Stewart & Sting playing together for the first time

2) Andy's says that "there have been rumblings" to reunite THE POLICE on the web

3) U2's stage manager rumours about a 2007 POLICE reunion

The Result:

-Our heros have the appropiate ages to make it happen for the last time and 2007 is the ideal year for them and for the record company.

-I think Sting's lute album won't bring a world wide tour similar than their previous commercial albums.

-I assume a last tour with THE POLICE and a possible recording for a DVD needs the logistic experience of someone who works with this kind of up-to-date massive events and perhaps the perfect position would come to someone like the U2' Stage Manager.

-Finally, I think the biggest significance of that possible last concert plus hot products like: Sting's & Andy's biographies and Stewart's audiovisual "Police" files at "Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out" close the circle of their careers and is the perfect time to launch their official "Web Site" to sell their products, share their life chapters and put on the net their "Last Concert" for being broadcasted live and worlwide!

Regards from Peru,

JOSE

PS (1): Sorry for burning the surprise in the oven Mr. Copeland, Summers, Sumner...and Miles...

PS (2): Perhaps our heros won't play in a big arena...probably in a place like the Omni Atlanta perfect to be filmed and broadcasted worlwide for the Internet or Cable Pay Per View and recorded for a deluxe "Last Concert" DVD... All is possible into the dreamings dimenssion!

Almost exactly 10 years before I was born. haha

I still don't think it will happen, but it's always worth a shot... Please come to Dallas if you do, other wise I won't be able to go!

>>Our heros have the appropiate ages to make it happen for the last time and 2007 is the ideal year for them and for the record company.
<<A tour in the next 5 years wouldn't happen ... with Andy, but there would still be a shot at a show or two.

>>I think Sting's lute album won't bring a world wide tour similar than their previous commercial albums<<
I wouldn't pay to go even if there was one.

Like someone already pointed out... it should be brought back to how it was in the early days with Outlandos d'Amour and Reggatta de Blanc... ehh it just can't be 'stingified'.

Yeah José. Maybe that is why I met a 27 year old man from Atlanta, Georgia last week when I been gambling a bit in Las Vegas. Anyway, just thinking about "The Police" is magic, magic, magic, magic, magic, magic, magic...

Did you win in Vegas Georgy?

My parents eloped in Vegas. If I ever decide to get married I think I'd do that, weddings can be EXPENSIVE.
