Holy moses! Look what I found: Bid on a chance to meet Stew!

Holy moses! Look what I found: Bid on a chance to meet Stew!

My Googling fingers just found something fun. OK, disclaimer: You'd have to have a serious Sugar Santa to even bid on this, but there's a benefit charity auction going for the Center for Jazz Arts and look what's on the menu:

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Dec. 9, 2006 --- One of the most beloved photographers in the world, William Claxton transcends the ordinary to the extraordinary as he captures the essence of life with emotion - a feeling that is universally understood - via an unprecedented event to benefit the Center for Jazz Arts (CJA), an organization dedicated to growing global understanding of and appreciation for American values.

On December 15, the virtual gavel will go down on five separate auctions, each featuring a distinct opportunity to accompany Claxton on a photo shoot with a celebrity - from Star Trek to stardom, each lays claim to fame and recognition in the creative arts industry, along with a long list of distinguished awards and accolades. To commemorate the occasion of the time spent with Claxton and the illustrious personality, the winning bidder will receive a limited edition print selected from the shoot.

Notables participating are:

(various other people)

Stewart Copeland - Inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, five Grammys and numerous other awards, along with the sale of more than 60,000,000 records worldwide, speak volumes about the popularity of this artist.

The crummy thing is that the opening bid needs to be $7500...maybe we could all chip in, then draw straws to see who gets to go...;) I admit I am sorely tempted to hock something and bid. Only thing is, the auction says it would need to be a 'mutually agreeable date and time,' and I have a few non-changeable overseas trips planned next year. Watch 'em be the only weeks Stewart could do the shoot...

The first thing that poped into my head after I read that was, "Queen jealousy, envy waits behind him; her fiery green gown sneers at the grassy ground". Isn't it odd that lyrics jump out in my thoughs, am I the only one?

Well obviously I'm jealous, but hey... even if I had that kind of money I'd probably pay off my car.

It WOULD be two new Macintosh Pro computers...or a new Vespa scooter...but one never knows when she'll win the lottery, eh? (I guess you have to buy tickets to win, something I'm always too lazy to do...although I do occasionally enter sweepstakes & that kind of thing if you can register online.)

What's that lyric, Ms. G?

I always like this one, from "If 6 was 9":

White collar conservative flashin down the street
Pointin' their plastic finger at me, ha!
They're hopin soon my kind will drop and die but
I'm gonna wave my freak flag high!

I may just go listen to that. Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh just imagine it...

My twin passions of SC and photography combined into one awesome event! But that price tag is beyond the dreams of mere mortals like us.

Especially considering some of we mere mortals would have to buy a plane ticket and find a place to sack out in L.A. for a few days...Last time I was there I sorta didn't realize where certain areas were located, and wound up staying in Compton. Wasn't a bad hotel, considering the razor wire and bars on the windows.

I could swing it if I hocked some stuff. But if I spent this kind of dough to meet Stewart, I can just imagine what Hub would come up with that he "needed" 8 grand for...and this after I told him we couldn't go to New Zealand to see the Hoodoo Gurus earlier this year...(long story)
