To get the, "select seeting" for Clapton's next show I'll have to sign up for his fan club, $40. Of coarse I'm not going to, "I'm not made of money." It's already $100 per ticket, why should I have to pay extra for a shot at a better seat, it should be who ever gets to them first.

Camping out for tickets would be cool though, but does anyone actually do that anymore, now that theres ticketmaster.com? Plus it's cold...

But damn $40's cheap compared to Sting's! Plus I'd get a free DVD and stuff.

This site is sweet, but no offense I wouldn't pay for it, or anything similar (with Stewart or other artists). This stuff is suposed to be free (and thank you for that!).

Money money...everything runs around money....even if my thought is that the best things in life are free....

I partially agree with you but you have to consider that building websites is not always done by fans (like me, Eugenio, Paola, Sergio); they all agreed to 'work' with me for free because of passion, devotion; I opened the first website absolutely alone, I decided to spend some time (hours and hours and some money) just because my mind was set up and ready (and still is) to do that knowing there was no money income. I ended up having Stewart collaboration...can you compare this with money???

Now, said that, most of the official website (such as Sting's) comes from the management, or the record company in some cases, and in most of the cases that's all about money; with Sting we are more than lucky to have Dave&Wendy that runs the sting.com as they got that 'human touch' that I haven't seen in many other websites; they do write messages very frequently on their news section, they partecipate and give answers in the message boards.
Sting.com has a cost and I know many many fans that do not want to subscribe because of that; paying you can get special stuff such as an exclusive DVD every year, videos, audios, help to get tickets, invitations; without that you have anyway a very good website with lots of infos, pics and everything that can be interesting for fans. A site like that, wanted from the management, is considered a cost for the management, and it's right to have a fee.
We can discuss about how high is, but if they give special invitation for fans only, admission to tv shows, meet & greet with the artist involved, help in case you need and exclusive dvd not on sale officially I think that cost is right.
Everything is always related to the importance you give to such matter; people spend $$$ for a record or an entrance to a football match that someonelse wouldn't give a cent.

Got on right at the start of the sale, and it kept saying something like "no tickets avilable in your description". So I went back and selected "any", and the best thing left was behind the stage.

I didn't think it would be like that. I can actually afford good seats, for once! And scalpers already have them all on ebay.

That $40, reserving seats seems really nice about now.

I guess I'm lucky that I really prefer shows by less well-known artists in smaller venues. I did go to a stadium last night to catch one of the only Southern shows the Dixie Chicks did this tour (they were awesome; the place was packed; reports of their demise are extremely premature). That said, I just really can't stand going to a show where my experience is more about the drunk kids behind or beside me singing along at the top of their lungs, stepping on my feet, whatever. I'm about 5'5", and there's always some Zulu with a hat on right in front of me, I can't ever see, you can't get out of your seat to go to the bathroom or buy a drink...Maybe I'm just getting old and crotchety, but there are a lot of bands I don't go to because of that (and also because I can see really amazing artists at clubs for 5 bucks anytime. Guess that living-in-Nashville thing does come in handy...)

If there's anytime I could pass for 21, you'd think it would be when I'm surounded by old people. But no I can't buy alcohol at a concert. And if your going to be surounded by drunk people, it would be more fun if you were drunk too.

I just recently found out it's illegal to even try and buy alcohol if your not 21. Ouch. Suposibly you can lose your licence.

The best kind of concerts are the field ones, there always so much more fun. The only problem though is a drunk person always falls over on me, every time. At least they don't puke.

But if I don't make it to the shows every chance I have, they could retire before I have another chance...

Hm. I guess I tend to forget not everyone is often glued, like I am, to VH1 Classic's "The Alternative," which plays the vid for "Science!" about every five minutes.

I think it'll be a great show. TD's playing with a Washington, D.C.-based DJ called bt...I used to go see him at raves. I'm quite looking forward to it, as Nashville, as you might expect, doesn't get as many electronica shows as other kinds of music. Though we have gotten Q Burns and Crystal Method, two of my favorites, and we get gigs like Sparklehorse, X, and the Flaming Lips fairly often...
