How did you make your journey to Stewart's site? to be a fan of him in particular?

For me, I wasn't a fan of The Police until my trip through Europe in 1981 with my older brother. We had Eurrail passes and spent hours in train stations, many of which had shopping malls with music stores. All of the young travellers would flake out next to these stores just to listen to what was being played.

I heard The Police enough that summer to become a real fan. For the next few years, that's all I played. I was the guy in the group of friends that forced his music on everyone else, but they ended up liking The Police too.

There was a radio station contest at the time, the prize being spending time with the group after their LA show. I had it all planned out what we would talk about: I had a list of lyrics where I didn't understand the words and I wanted clarification! For their sakes, it's a good thing I didn't win.

Why did I (and do I) love The Police so much? It's hard to say without sounding trite - the clean sound, the reggae influence, the intelligent lyrics which contained more ideas than mushy pop sentiment.

But Stewart's drumming stood out to me. I don't know the technicalities of drumming, but his energy, his syncopation and his rhythmical anticipation of key lyrical points struck me as better than any drummer I'd heard.

Since their breakup I've grown increasingly disenchanted with Sting for blocking a reunion. But I can't help my admiration for his lyrics and contribution to the group. I'd forgive him in an instant if he got together with the boys again, at least for one tour.

I don't know about you, but I've listened to Sting sing Police songs and they fall flat. I remember watching John Lennon signing one of his Beatles song after the breakup and it was likewise terrible.

FF to 2006 and the purchase of Everyone Stares, which brought me to this site. I love Stewart's stories and his solo work. I keep replaying his and Andy's gig with Incubus on YouTube - great stuff.

Although I'm not really into dancing with frenetic abandon, I'd love to see S at the next Taranta series!

We were all sure the dvd would bring more people here...and you will see Stewart as well among others, he often logs in (he writes under STEWART).

I run into The Police music in 1979, when 'Message' was airplyed in every radio station...and I 'ended up' building a website dedicated to Stewart Copeland...

Stewart (forgive me if forum etiquette prohibits direct address to yourself!) - in your post about the Incubus gig, you mentioned your and Andy's interest in playing Police songs on-stage periodically. Given your early link to XTC, has Andy Partridge ever been a contender? I'd certainly shell out to see an XTC/Police concert.

Vancouver (where I live) is the originator of the Jack FM radio concept, which plays primarily 80s tunes, so there would be no lack of marketing push. From what I gather, Van responds quite well to most touring artists.

I see that Incubus will be in Vancouver in Jan 07, but I don't see anything to indicate that you 'n Andy will be involved, so that's one less ticket sold!

Hi Omegaman:

I got in this site a few years ago, while I was looking for Stewart news.

At first was another pre-site of this official site, when I knew Giovanni and was a really charm guy with me. (Always)

For me getting involve with this Italian site have been my reconciliation with my Italian exhubby as a person, father of my daugther and 2 sons, and human being.

My fantasy since then is somekind like KK is always helping and rescue me in many of my worst moments.

Also my favorite band is Police since 1980 and stills go on into my musical inner I. My heart has an eternal The Police's tatoo.

I faithfully love this trio; Sting's voice and bass, also Andy's guitar, but my preferences have been always drums!

I have an older sibling who bought the Police's records as they came out (he was plugged into the music scene in Lawrence, KS - a college town), so I literally don't remember not hearing the Police in the household. (This is relevant because I was in primary school when Outlandos was released and couldn't have driven to a record store to buy it, much less bought a stereo on which to play it.

)

I've paid attention to Stewart's movie soundtrack work and CD releases over the years, but wound up here after I saw Oysterhead perform at Bonnaroo this year and was blown away. Great stuff - check 'em out if you ever get a chance.

I've really enjoyed hanging out on here with all the cool people (although I've been absent some lately as I was working 12-hour days for a U.S. Senate candidate, who got beat, darnit). I do have to say that hearing all about Stewart, Andy and Sting really makes me smile whenever I hear the Police over a PA in a mall somewhere (which happened yesterday. I enjoy hearing the old songs a lot more now that I know what cool guys they all are.)

(Oh, and you're more than welcome to address STEWART directly, but he's crazy busy and may not have time to answer direct questions, although he does sometimes. He does keep us well-informed on what's happening with him, though.)

I hope not. Did you ever hear the song that that quote is from? It was 'Friends', written by Andy (even weirder than 'Mother'). It was on the B side of one of the hits from Ghost In The Machine; I don't remember which one. - Anyone recall?

I used to enjoy playing it on the jukebox at a local restaurant and seeing peoples' puzzled looks.
