Hello Fellow SCNutters & Stewart,
First of all, thanks to all my fellow SCNuts who have posted in the other threads since we returned home from Stewvannah. I have really enjoyed the posts from all, especially the play by plays, stories and Stewlove from DM, Schmaffy, SS, GSC, NR, PR, Dive, Conroy, NJP, Sockii, Chatcha, Heidi (yay…you’re official) and others plus photos galore and Bella’s vid and PRs vids as well…so much…thank you all. After having surgery this week, it has brought me a lot of joy (reliving the moment) as I’ve only been up to checking in to read a bit from time to time. And that leads me into the primary reason for this thread…sorry if I ramble on a bit…
As most of you know the Melanoma International Foundation (MIF) was selected as an organization to make donations to in honor of Stewart’s brother Ian AKA “Leroy Coolbreeze” who lost his life to the terrible disease of Melanoma. See this thread for reference… http://www.stewartcopeland.net/forum/vi ... php?t=5054
Therefore, in memory of Ian and the others that have lost their battle to melanoma, survivors and all of the families and friends that have been touched by this disease, my daughter Toni and I will be walking in MIF’s Safe Sun Walk on Saturday, May 10th in Villanova, PA (Philly area). Our team name is FRIENDS OF LEROY COOLBREEZE. So if anyone is interested in sponsoring us with a $ donation we would greatly appreciate it. If you are so inclined, donations can be made at the following link…(UPDATE...this is now a direct link specific to the walk)

Also if there are any other SCNuts that would like to join us in the walk, that would be wonderful (I know some have expressed interest). The registration info can be found at MIF’s homepage http://www.melanomaintl.org/default.asp Note…I received a message from Catherine Poole (President, MIF) that they are updating their website as there were some problems with registering, but that should be straightened out in a day or two. If you register, please let me know at tonis_mom@hotmail.com, so I know how big our group will be plus I may have more logistical info.
I should also note that I had the pleasure of meeting Catherine and her husband Stewart (he was very proud to point out he had the same name as our dear Maestro) last Saturday at a MIF sponsored event and she was thrilled that people from the SCNet would be participating in the walk. She was also quite aware of our Savannah trip and made it a point to ask how the “flag” was…I told her she was home having a well deserved rest. She also mentioned how lovely Nancy Rose is (so very true) and how much of a pleasure it is to work with her. They are very passionate, dedicated people offering support and hope. Oh, and they have krypton-green melanoma awareness bracelets (she even knew that was "our" color-NR, what don't they know )--Conroy's right...there is green wherever we go...
In closing I want to mention that I have a personal interest in this organization as well, as I myself am a melanoma survivor and have recently received another diagnosis. As mentioned above, I had surgery this past Monday and I am happy to report that it appears they got it all. However, I am still not out of the woods yet as I need more surgery at the end of this month to remove more potentially malignant lesions. The MIF is such a worthy organization as it offers reliable information, resources and support that were previously unavailable. Simply put, they were there for me in the beginning a couple of years ago and they continue to help me today, and for that I am forever grateful.
Thanks everyone for listening, and for the love, support, prayers and kindnesses that have been extended to me during this time. I could really use another immune-boosting Stewvannah Show…hmmm, what’s next Stewart? Anyway, thanks again everyone for the support…I hope to see some of you in May.
xoxo Laurie – CG5
