they actually call it "garbage on a plate"?!?!? and sell it?! and people buy it?!

and, no, EQ, we won't be looking for any crack whores, it's probably not going to be that kind of holiday.... :(

Hey Smax,

In case no one mentioned it, it can be very cold in San Francsico. Don't think becuase it is California that it will be warm. April is not bad but it can be cold like, well, England.

Mark Twain is credited (seemingly incorrectly) with saying "The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco." While he probably never said it, it does not change the truth of the statement. Bring your UK clothes for that part of the trip since it will probably be cold at least some of the time you are in that beautiful city with its strange climate.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I was gonna say that that pic makes me want to hurl but it looks like someone beat me to it, caught it on a plate, and then took a picture of it.

What the hell is that?
Food of the Gods, my friend.

Choose two items for a base (home fries, french fries, macaroni salad), choose a meat for on top (white hot, red hot, cheeseburger, etc.), then cover the whole damn thing with onions and special beefy sauce. OH - and hot sauce. OH - and ketchup. OH - and mustard too. Mmmmmmm....

:D :D :D
Actually, I would probably eat that. But without so much ketchup and mustard.

ETA: Outlandos, we have In'n'Out here in NorCal...They were object of sharp criticism when clients found out that their "vegetarian burger" was just the burger bun without the patty (!)...Still, why vegetarians would go to a burger joint baffles me.
My wife LOVES the In n Out "veggie burger" though in vegas they call it the grilled cheese. Odd, because the sandwich is not actually grilled. Its just lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Who puts lettuce and tomato on a grilled cheese?

By the way, I've had Rochester white hots. FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Mmmmmmm. You can get them mail order.

Shit, Schmaffy! That garbage plate thing was the first link I looked at this morning. I'm a veg-head, too! Not a nice image for me at 8:00 a.m. You should have given those pictures some kind of rating. They're clearly for serious carnivores only. But I guess I was asking for it when the food is called "a garbage plate". I thought that was the name of the establishment! I'll probably be going to Rochester this July for my daughter's soccer tournament. Please have your hometown peeps cordon off the neighbourhood of that restaurant, 'kay?

Smax and Mrs. Smax, have a great time! I've got no advice except ENJOY!

Tomato is actually quite good on a grilled cheese, but I see what you mean about the lettuce-- sog city!

Have any of you heard of "Five Guys" hamburger joint? Mr. Mad tells me the burgers are great. The fries definitely are!
Hi smax! Sounds like a great trip you're planning!
I did a similar West Coast trip some years ago, and it is gorgeous! .....

Hi Nutters. I know this is an old thread but I got an e-mail asking me to change one of the links you posted on the first page of this thread, and is about the Monterey Bay Aquarium: www.MontereyBayAquarium.org is the right link.

And if you are interested in more aquariums around the U.S.: https://www.vivofish.com/10-must-see-aquariums/
