finally the time has come to present the 2nd book I recently hinted at (on facebook) : Joe Bergamini's "Stewart Copeland: Drumming In The Police & Beyond"

It's especially, but not only, interesting for drummers. Lots of info coming from the master himself, lots of photos (including stuff you've see on The PoliceWiki) - from what I've seen a MUST HAVE !

you can get more info and order copies here:

It finally arrived --- got the normal book yesterday, and the signed copy today

It's a large 186 page softcover book about the one drummer who stands out from the crowd - Stewart Copeland

https://hudsonmusic.com/product/stewart-copeland-book/

* interesting forewords by Les Claypool, Jeff Seitz and the author
* based on recent interviews there's lots of biographical and other facts regarding his drums, recording or live performances
* drum notation for a bunch of songs from The Police, Klark Kent & other collaborations
* LOTS of photos you'll like (just a few of them with Andy and Sting), all looking GREAT on good quality paper

I'm biased because I put a lot of "work" in the book by adding dozens of photos (those from the Sacred Grove look especially shiny in print!) and by proof-reading the text

For everyone who likes The Police or drumming in general this book is a must-have !!

Dietmar, you should be very proud of this book. As a former lithographer I can say that choosing quality papers for text and cover can make all the difference in the outcome of the printed piece.

I've only had a cursory glance at this book and look forward to exploring it further, particularly the stories that relate to each song with drum notation. Interesting to know that the backbeat/snare on MIAB was overdubbed in the latter half of that song. There are numerous photos throughout, many from Dietmar and Craig Betts (and others), great pictures of the Sacred Grove.

Congratulations. I look forward to reading the book. I think I have read almost every Police-related bio, including books by Stewart, Sting, Andy, Ian and Miles. This one should be fun.
