I noticed that SC has changed/added to the lyrics of Bombs Away.

Does anybody know why? Were these perhaps the original lyrics which were adjusted for the Police?

No, this is a simple case of an entertainer tweaking his performance of an older piece in an attempt to keep the old piece fresh.

The best example of that would be "you get your face in the morning press" changed to "you get your face in the Internet", in Piggie in the Middle Eight by Cook the Books, performed in 2015 or so, 30 years later after early 80s.

Gotta tell you; I'm LOVING the new lyrics. The changes are somewhat subtle, but they really give the song a fresher, sharper edge.

Not a fan of the arrangement though. No advanced guitar trickery in the intro really makes it less fun.
