It was AWESOME.

http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-hea ... rance-hall

Probably the best classical piece of Stewart's I've seen, personally. Helped that it was in a fabulous city and the most gorgeous concert hall imaginable. He did a Q&A that was marvelous... have seen many things but SC verklempt over Ravell was really something else.

There are photos floating around but I'm not sure how many of them will hit this (public) site. Here's one I took of some of the gear.

Aw hell, who am I kidding - I bootlegged the entire thing. Here's the file. With the requisite coughing, of course. ;)

I'm just nuts for the entire second movement. How I wish I could've made a bootleg video...

Thanks for posting. Haven't listened to much of it yet, but really looking forward to it.

I LOVE this piece of work. I agree that this is Stewart's best classical piece, even though I haven't (yet) heard it in person.

Listened to most of the recording. Excellent.

The percussion sounds are more noticable in this recording (at least to my ears) than in either of the recordings from the Dallas show that I have (Conroy's coughing and the youtube video).

I must diagree with Dive on one point. I love the third movement more than the second. I really like the end of the second, but it is the third that really does it for me.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks, Dive!!!

Be sure to listen to the whole thing as D'drum performed an encore after Gamelan D'Drum's ovation that was superb. I hope Stewart brings a cold back with him to the Sacred Grove that wasn't the same cold he had in Cleveland ;).

Wow ~ how long was the intermission, like how long did it take to move the huge battery of percussion instruments and the gamelans into place?

As always, I documented the whole trip, so feel free to skip to the Stewart-related pics. And sorry, photos of individual Nutters are left out by request. Privacy is a concern these days.

Conroy,

As someone who attended both the Dallas and Cleveland performances, how did you think the two compared?

I did enjoy listening to the encore. I take it that Stewart didn't join in the encore?

The experience was different in many ways. First there was on D'drum performer at Dallas (Jamal Mohamed) that was not in Cleveland and was replaced by another younger but equally talented guy that made the sound a bit different to me.

Also, I saw this performance from the dress circle where I had a much better view of the whole stage. I think the sound was also better from the dress circle seat. However, I still recommend people who have the opportunity see it close up as well as you can see the big smiles on the faces of the D'drum guys and hear some nuances better close up, as evidenced in Dive's recording.

I'm bummed that I didn't get to see the show from behind the stage in Dallas the night of one of the cancelled shows and there was no option to see the performance from that vantage point in Cleveland. I hope the next city that is lucky enough to have these guys visit will host them for at least two nights in stead of just one so folks can see the show from multiple vantage points to get the full experience.

And no, Stewart didn't perform during the encore. That did not take away from the experience at all. I hope some catches a fever and infects you tube with video of the encore performance.

Hi Luna V. The Dallas D'D cats love your shots and would like to use a couple. Can you let me know how they can contact you?
Thx
