Poor Me: Have salmonella (!), gonna have to miss BDSS tonite

!! Crap!! I originally wrote this post to offer up my tix for this evening but I have since learned I'd have to appear in person with an ID in order to claim the tickets at the box office. Sigh. Since I can't drive and damn near can't walk, I think that's out. (No worries, I'm not on death's door step, am taking pretty strong antibios and am actually feeling a bit better today...)

[quote]<strike>Anybody have use for a couple tix for the Bellydance Superstars show in Nashvegas this evening?</strike> Here's the whole story: Last Sunday afternoon I went for a small road trip up to Los Alamos, NM. Great town, with a little bit of a creepy vibe....the incident I'm about to recount happened near the intersection of Oppenheimer Drive and Trinity Road...

Stopped to gobble some McNuggets. Seriously. Small town, not much else around. About eight hours later, friends...I'm tellin' you. I feel like an extra out of one of those haemorrhagic zombie movies at the moment.

(Actually, I'm not 100% sure it's salmonella yet...had to have a blood test and some other samples done, because they have to report to the authorities if that's for sure what it is. But I do have certain of the classic symptoms, and it's usually the type of foodborne pathogen you get from poultry.)

Anyway, I think I'm gonna have to sit the show out this evening.
SUCKS. And I'm feeling a little better today, to the point if the show were this weekend I'd probably have made it... :( Maybe I'll check the schedule and see if I can make one of the later shows in another city...

Oh no, Dive! Sorry you're so sick :( That really sucks.

I saw the article with Kami Liddle in the N'ville paper and wondered if you were going. I'm sure the girls will be around again.

I didn't think that there was any poultry in Nuggets. Learn somethin' new every day.

Sucks that you're sick and have to miss the show babe! Better to rest and let it pass though. Hope you feel better very soon!

I hope that you are better soon, but I have to put this out there.

There is a quote from The Devil Wears Prada...."I'm one stomach flu away from my ideal weight."

Just trying to put a positive spin on it, my dear. Feel well soon.

Thanks folks! Actually sort of a whole lot better today. Wish the show had been tonight. ::sigh::

Anyway, whilst eating said McNuggets, I noticed they were a little....chewy....

GAH. Yep, think I'm done with that outlet for a while. Needed to be eating more celery anyway ;)

Oh Dive, I will give a ring and make sure you are still in the land o the living! I have to tell you, while we don't eat meant anymore, which reduces a lot of food borne illnesses, the quality of the restaurant also doesn't seem to matter. You can get sick with a $3 nuggets, you can get sick with $100 dinner for two...

On the way back from our NYE trip up NE we went to a really nice Italian restaurant where they made PapaCat a really nice vegetarian entree--pasta with tomatoes, garlic, basil--and he was sick for 3 days. How with those ingredients, honestly? We figured there was cross contaminaton where they prepped the tomatoes and it didn't get cooked to 165 (the insta-kill temp for salmonella and most other meat related pathogens)

It took us 3 days to get back from Brooklyn, usually a 12 hour balls-to-the-wall drive--poor guy, we had to stop like every 20 minutes and stop 2 nights for hotels to break up the trip. He was almost left at two separate truck stops HAHA.

I do love, however, that no one even blinks an eye at a spur of the moment little road trip from TN to NM though! <grin>
