After their triumphant return to the stage with a three-night stand at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum and single-handedly crashing Live Nation’s new ticketing Website with their sold-out summer tour, the reunited Phish have scheduled 12 more concerts, starting with a four-night run at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre July 30th to August 2nd. The band’s trip back to Red Rocks will be their first in more than 13 years. Ticket requests are now open through the Phish Website, while the general public onsale begins March 26th.

In the new issue of Rolling Stone — which hits newsstands this week — David Fricke goes behind the scenes at Hampton to get the story of the band’s break-up (which began in August 2004 after a farewell fest in Coventry, Vermont), reunion and preparation for their big comeback gigs. Fricke reports that the band will rejoin producer Steve Lillywhite in the studio in April to begin work on their new album, their first since 2004’s Undermind. “I’m not convinced we’ve made a great record yet,” Trey Anastasio tells Fricke. The quartet already have 20 demos ready to go and one of the fresh songs, “Backwards Down the Number Line,” saw its live debut during the first night of the Hampton stand.

I'd like to be wrong, believe me, but I am becoming of the opinion that Oysterhead indeed was a particular moment in time, a certain confluence of musical circumstances an astrological alignment of three orbits. That was, in my reading, the residual impression I had gotten from the Q&A in Savannah...It, at least, indeed sounded more likely than a KK reunion (would that constitute a reunion?--perhaps reincarnation <grin>) which was undoubtedly a moment in time...

But never say never right?!

I think that Gina is right that Oysterhead was something that happened then and is unliley to come back. All three busy moving parts would need to be able to at the same time and that seems more and more unlikely.

While I agree that OH renuion didn't seem likely from the Savannah Q&A, I got the sense that a KK "reunion" is even less likely. Which is odd since all the essential parts (i.e., the man himself) is always together.

I will admit being less of Oysterhead fan than many of fellow Nutter and would prefer to see a Gizmo or even Orchestralli tour.

I don't see Stewart going "on tour" for quite a while. He might play the occasional concert, but my guess is that he's become quite tour-allergic by now.

Trey and Les haven't spent most of the last 2 years touring, btw.

I don't expect a reunion until '11. Every five years, remember?

OK, I may be strung up for this, but I wouldn't mind seeing Anastasio replaced. Claypool and Copeland are the two essential ingredients, IMO...

(Nothing against him personally...just not as much of a fan of that reeeally mellow stuff.)

Not stringing you up, but without Trey you will lose the jam band audiences, Phishheads and Deadheads. Also, OH need some mellower songs and melody. Leaving everything in the hands of the rhythm section...

Lalalalalalala.... I'm not listening to you.... Lalalalalala

(I've actually thought that myself, but would never allow it to permeate my fantasy). As ELO would say, don't bring me down.

I don't dislike Trey in OH and I don't dislike his songs, but I'm in agreement here... I'm way more into Claypool/Copeland :D

Just trying to stay positive and hope that we'll see more rock out of Stewart at any rate. I appreciate his other projects, but there still isn't anything like him in a ROCK BAND. I miss The Police something bad right about now. Spring is in the air and there are no shows to look forward to. It's like a whole new life has begun and it's boring as hell! What other band can we follow this summer? Can I change the subject or what?

Who could replace Trey in OH? I think Adrian Belew would be a great choice. Belew and Les have played together and Stewart and Belew have played togther as well. I recall a cool version of Don't Box Me In.

While I am a huge Trey fan, I would not mind seeing a Belew headed OH Version 2.0 :D

Listening to Certifiable, Synch II on the drive home- it's all warm and sunny and it brought tears to my eyes thinking "no more...." :( Makes you a little sad, but damn glad it happened at all!

I'll be another naysayer and would rather see Gizmo or Orchastrelli. OH is neat and all, and I'm sure the live experience is crazy, but I want to see something new and different- both Gizmo and Orchastrelli really hasn't been seen stateside (minus the MD fest and Stewvannah). I do not like Trey, and I do not like Les' vocals...

Anyways- it'll be awhile methinks. And besides! I've set the bar WAAAAY too high (or is that way growth?)! Any STEWART shows must also include hobnobbing and noodling on his kit. ;)

The good thing is that Stewart is full of surpises as the recent announcements of his upcoming work demonstrates, so there's always hope. I think we a Bonnaroo-like one off is entirely possible. In the meantime, I'll be happy with whatever creations or collaborations Stewart produces in the meantime.

You've been spoiled, Spec.

As Oysterhead goes, I have faith:
I don't expect a reunion until '11. Every five years, remember?
But I wouldn't turn Gizmo, etc. down either.

--In the "aw, just cut Trey" category: how about cutting the guitar entirely and going with SC, Les Claypool, and Armand Sabal-Lecco? Not on OH material necessarily; just for kicks and explosives.

How about Stewart on guitar and Jeff Seitz on drums?
