Thanks Animal... I needed that this morning!

Does Sting ask for his "cigs" at the end? I didn't think he smoked. I see Ian too I think. Lots of interesting stuff.

Definitely cool footage! I would love to see the whole show if anyone has it.

Hey Bets,

No ciggies. He asks for his "shades." On the subtitles it says "zonnenbrill," which if it were German, (a similar language in some respects) would be "Sonnenbrillen", or sunglasses. (Dietmar, you can correct my spelling if need be.)

Cheers!

I saw part of this a few months ago on dutch television. Never saw this extended piece. There has to be more I guess.
Nice Animal, thank you,

Chatchka: I have to protest against the "similar language" of German and Dutch.

Sounds like Stew asking for his shades, not Sting.

Maud,

LOL, I'll grant you that mine was a sweeping statement -- That is why I included the slight dodge "in some respects." I believe I was thinking of you and Dietmar, and your collective, potential outrage, when I was writing it. :D No offense meant. Only that, to an American, the spelling does look similar.

So, was I right? zonnenbrill = sunglasses? 8)

I've got two clips from Pinkpop on DVD. This was one of them (I don't even know if it's got the same length, but it looks familiar) and the other one is Roxanne as well, I guess...

I love the expression on Sting's face (I guess it's fear) when he notices how large the crowd is - check seconds 28 / 29 of the youtube clip.

Sonnenbrillen is alright - and I DO think that Dutch and German are similar - I can read Dutch if I concentrate.

Yes the languages are alike, I know, but no dutchman wants to hear that  There has always been some sort of competition/fight between the dutch and the germans (especially when it's about soccer: the Germans always win  ).

We even learn German in school....

And yes: zonnebril=sunglasses
