I saw Sting yesterday

Hi gang...Sting was in Figline Valdarno yesterday to talk about his new commercial adventure, producing wine.

At the very last minute I could manage to have a couple of invitations and drove to Figline Valdarno with Lydia; I just came back and just slept for three hours...I'm in the office now.

Sting was relaxed, I have to say, and seemed pretty happy to be with all these people so involved in their 'mother earth' with such passion.
He talked a couple of times about his experience with the Amazon Forest, talked a little about the relation between writing music and the place where you write it, and of course talked about his forthcoming relase...no, not a new record, but a new wine, that will be ready by September.

Definitely proud of his new adventure, he was accompanied by Paolo Rossi, the main man at Il Palagio, the guy who followed step by step this new interest and the new commercial adventure of Sting.
There will be a dedicated shop in Figline Valdarno where it will be possible to buy the wine and all the products of Il Palagio. He's particularly proud of Il Palagio Olive oil.

Anyway, Lydia and I spent a couple of hours in this beautiful theatre, and, for a favourite circustamce, we could manage to sit front row...(where else???) even if not from the first song...ehm, ops...no no, sorry ... not from the beginning I meant....we could manage anyway to go on stage at the end of the show to say hi to our new 'italian' wine producer.
I couldn't take great pics, but anyway I'm sure today they will surely surface everywhere as Ansa people were there, as well as most of the main Italian medias; you may also check RTV38 Channel web.

Ciao ciao
Giovanni

Yum... wine. Happy to hear that Sting has found another passion.

Les Claypool is coming out with a new wine as well. This is an interesting trend! http://www.claypoolcellars.com/

if i wasn't at work, i'd like to spend / waste a couple o'moments composing a gordo-approriate description of the wine....

"younger varities of the grape have more punch than the more mature varieties.."

etc, etc

Thanks for the update.
I know we have had some cheese threads going so it should be interesting to have some wine threads going :)

Gio, I'm glad meeting the bearded one was good for you and so was the show.
Bet Malgordo was relaxed: he doesn't have to worry these days, and he lives in his own magic bubble.

It seems as though there’s a few vintners around these days.
Here are some notable winos:

I’ll be releasing my own fine vintage soon under the label “Big Lush” complete with its own brown bag.

Would anyone like to venture a guess as to what this new wine will be named?? Hmmm, some very interesting possibilities I'm sure.
